2003 Accord First Impressions
2003 Accord First Impressions
Well, I've had a chance to get a close look at both the 2003 Accord sedan and the 2003 Accord V6 coupe. And I have to say both cars are NICE! I predict they'll both be hot sellers.
The '03 Accord sedans are actually on sale right now. We received our first truck shipment of sedans today, and I completed a PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) on an LX right before I got off work. The sedan features a variant of the K-series engine - 2.4L 160 hp 4-cylinder i-VTEC. From a glance, this motors appears to be the same as the one in the new CRV, but the intake manifold is entirely different and I think there's a 5 hp difference between the two motors. The sedan K-series motor redlines at around 6500 rpm.
The new Accords use new key blanks that can't be programmed by our existing PGM encoders (we are still waiting for the new encoders from Honda). They feature cool light-up illuminating gauges and the windows can be opened and closed via the remote key fob.
Now about the V6 coupe - 3.0L 240 hp V6. it's not supposed to on sale until January 2003, and right now there are only 9 USDM-spec coupes in existence. We have #9 right at our dealership, and it's been sitting in the stall next to me for the past few days. We've got a car cover on it at all times (no customers are supposed to see it), and I'm constantly having to put the car cover back on because the wind keeps blowing it off. The coupe uses a variant of the J-series motor, which is currently used in different forms in the existing Accord V6, Acura TL, Acura CL, and Honda Odyssey. It redlines at around 6700 rpm and features conventional VTEC (not i-VTEC).
The coupe sports 17" wheels, dual alloy exhaust tips, and a tail end that looks almost exactly like an Acura TL. The headlights seem like they took some styling cues from the S2000. The 6 speed transmission feels smooth, and the throws are pretty short. All in all, I think the new Accord V6 coupe will definitely be the 'Altima-killer'. Similar power, Honda reliability, and looks a whole lot better (personally I dislike the factory Altezzas on the new Altima).
Honda has definitely taken a positive step with the new 2003 Accords.

hello! 2003 Accord Sedan EX just arrived at my area and just went to check it out 30 minutes ago.
IMO:
the rear looks RETARDED. doesn't really blend well with the front..
it's so different from looking at pics posted online compared to when u actually see the car yourself.. (duh)
interior-wise.. very impressive! it didn't have a navigation though but it's okay. comfy seats but i noticed that the car feels a bit smaller once u get in, at one point i felt as if
i was riding my own car but with a luxury upgrade and sporty seats. previous models, such as 2k1s or 2k2s feel definitely bigger interior-wise.
and the audio system they give you looks sweet!
if i owned one, i don't think i'd really change the deck or whatever for the fact that the cd player itself looks blended with the air conditioning and others..
i know that sedan gets some pretty nifty gadgets as an optional accessories, but seriously i just can't stand the rear taillights..
well, there u havvit..

My mom is eyeing the new Accord sedan as a replacement for the busted *** Jetta... I wouldn't mind driving around in it either...
