auxillary fuel tank
aside from my other post about getting crappy MPG, anyone else wish they could go 400+ miles between fill-ups?
i find it particularly annoying that we get better MPG than any SUV out there, but still have to fill the tank up as often. my winter beater ('97 chevy blazer) gets less than 20 MPG, but has a 20 gallon tank so i'm only filling it up once per week. same with the civic, even though it should get almost twice the MPG.
anyway, has anyone looked in to putting an aux fuel tank in the trunk? i vaguely remember car&driver rigging some tank in to a jetta TDI a few years ago so they could go cross-country on one tankful. i'm not looking for that many miles.. but maybe a tank for several gallons to put it at ~600 mi. between refills? then it would only be stopping for gas twice/month. which would be very convinient for lazy people like me. anyone else? yeah, what Mex said
also, keep in mind that those big azz SUVs and trucks can pull the extra weight of 7 more gallons without much trouble, whereas a Civic would be seriously bogged down by that much extra weight. not to mention the extra room required to carry more fuel...a commodity thats already in relatively short supply on a civic (extra room that is).

I went 343 on 9.7 gallons. So if I ran it dry.... I can go 466. But that's doubtful. even at the listed MPG on the sticker.... I averaged them to 34.5 MPG... that's 455 on a full tank.
