I have been thinking about doing that for awhile now. I know some cars out there you can buy them made for that but I havent seen one for our car yet, it shouldnt be too hard, just get some black vinyl and cut it out then set it in place. I am not sure if I am going to do it still cause you might not be able to see it well because of my tint.

I actually did this!
I had taken my rear deck off to tighten one of my speakers that was raddeling.
I didn't really spend much time on it (maybe 10 minutes)
What I did was actually take the 3rd brake light apart and I put a printed piece of paper that said "7thGenCivic" or something along those lines.
I didn't actually put it into my car. but I took some pictures. I will try to find them now, and I will post them.

These are the pictures that I took.
I ended up making the letters a little too big, because they fit perfectly inside the red plastic piece, but I later learned that not all of the red plastic piece is exposed.

let me know if this is what you were thinking of doing

Yes I think it would still read.
I never put it in, so I can't say that I'm 100% sure, but I believe that it still would.
