quick accident question....
ok, i searched around and couldnt find much, so here goes. If you drive a modified car, and someone hits you, say you have a body kit, fenders, headlights, cf hood, wheels, exhaust, etc. When you go through with that persons insurance and all that crap, when you finally get your car fixed, will it be replaced with the aftermarket parts you had on the car that were damaged in the accident, or is the car always repaired back to stock condition in an accident? I hope this makes sense, thanks to ppl who respond
your insurance is suppose to send a person to inspect the damge. he/she determines the amount of damage done to the car. some insurance companies let you bring it to your own body shop to get the inspection tho. you generally end up losing a bit of money, especially after the deductible. i don't know if i make sense, but hope this helps

Yea you have to have an adjuster come and look at your ride and he or she tells you how much they are gonna give you for the accident the modifications dont matter to them or the amount of money you spent on it you can tell them and it might help but more than likly they are gonna come up with thier own amount and tell you this is what your gonna get....then you have the deductable

i just had to go through all the bs with an adjuster, i took my car to a body shop i knew and it took him 3 days of arguing with the insurance company to get enough money to fix it the way it should be done, the adjuster wanted the hood to be fixed, but the bodyshop wanted a new hood. he finally won and got all new parts instead of fixing the original ones. get your insurance policy too, most policys have a section on how to deal with the differnces in estimates from the adjuster and the body shop of your choice.

The thing is that if you put on aftermarket parts that are worth more than the OEM parts, then you won't get any more money for them if they're damaged than you would for an OEM part. Say you buy an aftermarket CF hood and a new front bumper. Then you get into an accident and both those parts happen to be damaged. The insurance adjuster will only dish out as much cash as it would take to repair the OEM equivalent of those parts.
If you want to have aftermarket parts insured, then you have an insurance guy come out to your house to take a look at your car. He/She will insure your car for whatever it is worth. Then you will actually receive more money if the car is damaged and/or stolen. However, you will pay a larger premium. Nothing is for free. That's why people usually get aftermarket parts and a car alarm. At least get theft out of the equation.

My insurance company insures anything that is permanetly attached to the car. My car got broken into and they broke my radio and dash tryin to steal it and took my 100 cd book. And insurance covered the radio and the dash and it was an aftermarket radio too. They just wouldnt cover my cd's.
