HondaPrelude.com out of business...
Well, if you head over to HondaPrelude.com you'll see that the #1 hosting site for one car has gone out of business...because he never really was in business. That site was VERY much like this one. Now you'll see PreludeOnline.com has to charge a membership fee of $6 a year for access to all the sites features. I have a feeling that the reason hondaprelude.com went in debt was because the owner really didn't make any profit. Where as the owner of 7thgencivic.com (Derek) is making a profit from sales of stickers, shirts, and I think he gets a percentage from Tornactive.com, which is good. But, as more and more members join this forum... you may see Derek asking people if they would mind to pay a small fee (5 dollars a year) to keep the site running... because he DOES have to pay alot out of his pocket for his servers to be running fast and well. So anyways... best regaurds to Chris at HondaPrelude.com and I hope all these other car forum sites can learn from his mistakes.

I actually need to buy a few stickers for myself. I just can't decide what color I want!
If Derek did decide to start charging a fee, I'd be down for that. I've learned so much stuff from this site that I don't have a problem giving back.

derek doesn't make any money from the site. the little money he does get from the banners and stuff he uses to pay of the site. if he was making enough money from the site to pay itself off he would be asking for a donation.

Well if Tornactive is givng some of the profits to him ill do my part Tonrative is a god place to order from bout to get some projectors from there so ill be helping out as well....and if we have to starting paying a small one year fee im for that
that might be a good idea even if D didn't need the money.. which i'm sure he does... just to get the serious people in here that are actually into cars and such instead of the influx of morons and noobs just trying to stir up trouble..

id pay to use premium features...whatever derek is making those, but i wouldnt want to pay to use the forum. thats kinda blah...
as far as fee...if the only thing derek has to worry about is paying for the servers and the bandwidth charges (or however his host is charging him), then i wouldnt really want to pay any more than it takes to do that. if he started this site for the sole purpose of creating a community and providing a pool of information for and from that community, i dont see why he needs this site to make a profit. break even, sure...profit?? nope.
sorry...i love the site and all, but i dont want to support it as a business entity.
if derek wants to make a profit or whatever, he should ask honda to support him and in return get a cut, since this is a form of marketing for them, and as it is now its free.
