I was gonna buy was of those $100 universal Tunable mufflers that you see in all those import ads, but I was wonder if they were any good? Plus how do the sound with and without the silencer installed? Or can you suggest the next best thing? I looking for a lower humming tone.....

About the tunable mufflers: Waste of your hard-earned money, IMHO.

I got one made by obx and got the piping custom. It sounds just like the catbacks all the other 2k1's had at the baltimore meet...Not a weed eater. The others were, greddy, ractive and a few others I cant remember.

I got an N1 style muffler off ebay for $64... AWESOME DEEP SOUND, 0% RICE.
I've bought a couple more N1 style mufflers for friends and none of them are ricey. www.MeganRacing.com or go on ebay and type "N1 muffler" and look for seller "built4race" (excellent feedback). Just my 2 cents.

Well, I stand corrected...I might just try them myself...I still don't have an exhaust cuz my car is so damn low and the streets in Dallas are terrible--I sure would hate to bash an expensive exhaust.

You'll like it. When i bought 2 mufflers for my friend's Accord V6, the salesman told me that if i didnt like it i could bring it back and he'll refund my money + pay for installation labor. My friend likes it, so we are not returning them.
