all i gotta say is it really depends on the driver.... like i have a si (ex) coupe vs. my friend's lx sedan... and we both raced and i beat him.... we're both pretty good drivers, but i say i'm a bit better driver than him and i weigh less...
we never tried switching cars, but i'll probably keep up in his car... or it shoulds be a really close race!
peace!

Hey nOOdleboy...
, I did not mean in the slightest that I was a better driver than auto magazine's test drivers, damn, I'm sure I suck compared to them. If you read through my post again, maybe this time you'll realize I never mentioned MYSELF, tough guy
All I was TRYING to say is that time slips do not lie. You've gotta wonder how accurate it is when maybe only 3 drivers average their times together, probably ALL driven in the same conditions(weather, etc), and using a mystery timing method.
Of the people that take their cars to the track, some will be worse drivers, some will be better, some times it'll be cold and dry outside, sometimes it'll be warm and humid. This gives you a much more diverse and realistic variation of numbers to AVERAGE together. I'm not saying take a slip time of 15.7 and think you'll be able to hit it every time. I'm saying take all of em, even the high 17's and average together. Also, I'm sure that the instuments used to measure your times at the track are calibrated pretty damn good.
One more final thought, nOOdleboy.... kiss it Cause I dont give a sh t about your thoughts or you slow *** Protege5 anymore! (To tell ya the truth, I never really have)
......stupid to check magazines for times, they're almost always inaccurate. It's better to average out 1/4 times of a couple real drivers that took their cars to the drag strip instead of relying on critics. Just my $.02, however
Also, just another example of how observant you are, I posted it last night, not this morning... Just a pety piece of info, yeah. but now at least everyone can see how little you understand about what others say before you give your lil smart *** comments
It's a comment you doofus, cornflakes is associated with breakfast, but then again
maybe where you live, you have **** and cornflakes for dinner. Now maybe
you really DO need that chick from logistics, looks like you need something wedged up your
@ss to fill that ego of yours.

n00dleboy and I have worked everything out and realized that we were pretty much arguing over nothing.... everything is cool between us... just ignore our crap and continue on to post about EX vs. LX
I know this doesn't settle the debate much but I thought of this thread during a race tonight:
Me: 2002 EX Coupe Auto
AEM SRI
50 lbs subs/amp/box
other person: 2002 LX Coupe Auto
stock
I was up a car length at 50 mph, not sure of the distance. I thought it was a lot but they said they gunned it all the way.
I didn't think I would win by as much as I did.
I also beat a 1993 Impreza L (non AWD) by only about 2 feet up to 60mph and he had a 5 speed.
So far I am 2-1 in racing but the loss was against a Regal Grand Sport

This isn't really relevant to the thread, but what are people talking about with the EX having an elbow rest? My LX has an elbow rest.
I can't believe people are questioning the major car magazines' driver credibility. I mean of course the quarter mile times aren't going to be 200% accurate, but they give you a good idea of the car's performance. Can't it be left at that?
EX and LX aren't quantum leaps in HP gains, so consequently you'll see mixed racing results due to a bunch of different factors (temp, cond of oil, etc etc).
I bought my LX cus' its a nice looking econobox car and I thought a sunroof was unnecessary. If I was shopping for HP gains I woulda bought a different car altogehter.
My 2 cents.

and I bought my EX for the Sunroof. If I remember correctly, the "elbow rest" is standard on the EX, but an option on the LX. And I think the original poster reminding us about the "elbow rest" was implying the EX weighs more due to the "elbow rest." I thought the original posters post about the "elbow rest" was quite funny.
I knew what the guy was gettin at ...and sadly that's how many people think. Buy a set of OZ racing wheels, a carbon fiber hood and all of a sudden the car is a hardcore machine Shave off 20-30 pounds, its still a 100 hp car. But hey, its a 100 hp car that looks nice.

ps- I like every gram of extra weight my elbow rest gives my car. It distributes more of the weight to the center, helping to make up for the weight imbalance in the front!
