They allow you to adjust what rpm vtec kicks in, and as far as I know all the current vtec controllers do not work with our cars. Do a search for v-afc and you'll come up with some info.

As far as how useful they are, it beats me...I guess when dealing with B series engines it can help by decreasing what rpm vtec kicks in but from what I've read it probably wont help our cars too much unless you've got some type of FI.

controls fuel ratios
saves peak settings for such things as rpm, throttle
sets VTEC engagement and disengagement points

it worked on my 99 Si...ive heard conflicting reports that it does and dosnt work on the 2k1...good luck if your thinking about buying it for that. However if im assuming its for a 2k2 Si by your name, it WONT work, because the K20 has i-VTEC.

yes, it should say on your engine cover. Actually the intake manifold cover is what says it. Black cover that says "i-VTEC 2.0L DOHC"

2k1 EX has VTEC-E...LX and DX do not have any VTEC.

2002's besides the Mini-Odyssey, don't have i-VTEC, the EX's have VTEC, the LX's and DX's have nothing, and the HX's have some fuel efficient version of VTEC.
