two questions...

Ok, I searched and can't find definitive answers.

1. What's the difference between a 4-1 header and a 4-2-1 header. besides the obvious. i mean the advantages of one over the other.

2. What does bleach do for burnouts?

Thanks!

Bleach gets everything smoking up real nice...and it helps to have something wet on the tires so you slip on the road better...

As for the difference in headers....um...I used to know, but I haven't had coffee this morning yet, so I can't answer that right now

civicdude will become famous soon enough
The 4-1 setup is better for racing....especially if you have a stick. If you have an automatic then you need low end performance and you are better off getting the 4-2-1

I am not a pro at this stuff but I will do what I can......

The difference between a 4-1 and a 4-2-1 header if the way it connects together.
A 4-1 goes from the 4 pipes of the exhaust into a single pipe
A 4-2-1 is the same as above except it goes from 4 pipes into 2 pipes and then into 1

As for the Ceramic and SS headers I think the Creamic is better to keep the heat in the header pipes so the engine bay stays cooler, but I am not 100% on that, correct me if I am wrong guys.

i think Crash is 100% right on everything, the ceramic headers are better insulators of heat

There's an ongoing debate whether or not the ceramic headers are more prone to cracking or not - personally, I'd rather have stainless steel to be sure and for the looks...

Yes, ceramic does crack SOONER than steel. But both will eventually crack due to thermal expansion and contraction. It's just a question of when. They do insulate better than the steel, this is true, but unless you are racing in above 100 degree conditions, which you shouldn't be, then the difference is minimal. Also, if you have a CAI it won't matter.

The 4-1 increses torque higher in the RPM range, while the 4-2-1 increases power in the mid RPM range. Depending on what kind of driving you do with your manual, either one could be better for you. 4-2-1 for example would be good for autocross where the RPM sometimes drops to 3-4K. By having that bit more power down low you can accelerate out of the corner quicker.

The key here is that the ceramic coating helps to keep that heat in the exhaust gasses so that they don't cool and lose velocity. I would say that a ceramic coated header will make more power than stainless because of this.

I believe the bleach will soften the rubber up some - help make it sticky - burn-out helps heat them up to temperature for maximum grip.
