I wasn't so much concerned with the finger. The Supreme Court ruled the finger was not an obscene gesture. So, a cop really can't do anything but return the favor. I was concerned that the person was driving rather recklessly.

Couldn't you argue the finger instigates road rage? Especially coupled with his driving and behavior?

Maybe there was a hold up alarm coming from the McDonald's. I use the lights on and off all the time to get around people when going to a call. It's really incorrect to say 70% of cops abuse their power. I'd say no more than 10%...if even that; that's the case in any profession.

I'm not going to get into a debate with you. Long before I was ever a cop I respected police officers and the job that they did. It's a job and someone has to do it. Unfortunately, a very select few chose to abuse their power. Just because this select few are bad does not make us all bad. Its simply incorrect to state that 70% of police officers abuse their powers.

As for the exhaust, most state vehicle laws make excessivly loud exhausts unlawful.

CHP has some Volvos,. I saw one being serviced at a Volvo dealership. It looks kind of funny because they look so small compared to the crown vics.

I agree that by far most police are honest brave people doing a great job and working in a dangerous & tricky business. You never know what is waiting for you in every car you pull over.

Unfortunately, being so visible out there... it doesn't take but a very, very small percentage to sour people's impression when it comes to so-called abuse of power.

I do wonder how many Harleys and other big bikes get pulled over for noise with their open exhaust pipes. I've heard many of them that are far noisier than any of our angry bee sounds by far. But, I bet the number of young guys in modified cars being pulled is far greater just for "probable cause".

Actually he got me AND Machina.. we were driving a little recklessly.. .. but he only gave us 15 over the limit.. PHEW..

You don't need probable cause to make a traffic stop. If that were the case, you would need a warrant or have it occur in your presence. You merely need reasonable suspicion to stop a car. Here, bikers get stopped all the time.

I stand corrected on the term, that's what I actually meant but, not being a lawyer, police, or criminal...

and Qcksilvr, anytime you want to quiet things down here as far as the volume on some of the bikes around... especially when you get 10 of 'em showing off to each other.... brmmmm...brmmmm...sputter, sputter...blat.

I live in Charlotte, NC and they have this hooked up black Mustang here. It has dark black tinted windows and some nice *** rims. Head up to anyone in the area. It seems it hangs out on the East Side.

I'm not going to start on cops abusing power. I love and respect law enforcement I see cops every couple of nights. But there are those few that ruin things for all of the "good" cops.

As far as undercover cops, they do a good job infiltrating places a badge can't get, unmarked cars are the same way. Down here in Statesboro we have a weekend long party called Players Ball. At this party there are about 100 State Patrol officers brought to the area just to help with law enforcement. They pull you over for the slightest infraction which is a good thing considering how many people are drunk and high and on the road. But you haven't ever been pulled over unless you hae been pulled over by a black escalade with 22" rims that is lit up like a christmas tree from the inside.

cops are cool when they are doing there job but where i live all they do is drive almost bumper to bumper with kids cars to try and make them nervous and for them to speed up or something. a few weeks ago 3 cars went threw a red the frist guy could not stop in time a (kid) after that 2 older guys a cop pulled the kid over one of the old guys saw this and pulled over he said to the cop if your going to give him a ticket your going to have to give me one to. the cop left after that no tickets handed out.

but any ways as much as people complain about cops and stuff people forget how uslefull they are when you really need them. i toned down my complaing after i had to call them a few times last summer due to vanalizum to my house. i even talked to them about why i was followed home almost every night from a friends house. that was going on for like 1 month almost every night. after that talk they stoped i think they thought i was some underage kid that was out past 11 hehe

but remember when he/she drops 2 or 3 gears in a bike when they got the sign to pull over, the bike is gone and theres almost nothing you can do to stop, especially like a crotch rocket (e.g. gsxr1000) plus in the chase, they can manuver against traffic like in the matrix reloaded, while the cop would be just on the side having to look out for other cars against them. one more thing, crotch rockets rule!

Everybody has there undercover cops but I don't think you have as many as we do here by the border. We have mustangs, camaro's, a harley, crown vics, impalas, blazers, expeditions, stratuses, lexus is300s, and it was either a state trooper or a sheriff that had a viper, but I haven't seen it in a while. I am sure that there are other vehicle that I am missing.
