Posting pics of your license plate...
WTF is with people masking their license plate when they post pics on the web?
The ones with the real crappy MS Paint skills are the ones i'm REALLY complaining about, but the whole idea in general...
i mean, its not like its some secret ID that you need to protect, like your SSN or something... do you have a piece of duct tape over the plate when you drive around? do you take the plate off when you go inside a store?
then theres the people with the personalized plates that do it. you pay to get a custom plate so that people will notice, and then hide it on the net?
are you afraid someone's gonna e-mail QCKSILVR your tag and a BS story about you "driving like a drunk" or being at the scene of a crime or something?! lol... paranoid freaks...
and if you're gonna hide the numbers, at least learn some photoshop skills and stop putting the god-awful black rectangle that doesn't even match the angle of the photo over the plate!
EDIT: i'm not like pissed about this or anything... i'm just racking my brain trying to figure out WHY people do this!

Well 1 really good reason.. it's not cops..it thieves.. Anyone can have your plate #. go to the DMV, and pull up your address..If your showcasing a mod'd car..and giving them a way to find you.. It's a pretty good thing to do...
As for Police.. they can't do anything unless they caught you in the act of something..so there's no point there...
But Thieves..Thieves... Why not brag about the new 54" HDTV you just bought and say how your going on vacation for a few weeks.. see if your TV's still there after giving your real name out.

however, 75% of the people that hide their plates drive totally-stock cars. so is masking your plate another form of rice?!

Anyone with $15 who knows certain websites can run plates. I strongly advise against posting your license plate on the internet. My plates don't even come back to my residence, for security reasons.
I can run plates from any state myself, but I have no interest in doing so. It is very easy to get information from a plate, so take my advice and do not display it on the internet.

yep, mohawkboom hit the nail right on the head. theives. Most people here have a page in Reader's Rides, which also lists our mods/ICE/whatever. Almost like a shopping list.
lol, of course they would need to steal the code too.

WTF. Are you serious. Your freakin out because people are being cautious. Oooooooooooookay. That's something to get all hyped up about. C'mon now. You gotta do better than that. Oh yeah, take this:
I really don't trust anyone on the internet...why should I put my license plate up? As for people seeing my plate on the road, as I said, if someone tried to run my plate, it would come back to a post office box. This is what most cops do, for security reasons. I have never put a picture of my plate on the internet and will never do so.
I highly recommend concealing it.

Your shouldn't share personal information over the internet. Period. Your liscense plate is personal information regardless if it's open to the public on the road or not. Limited amount of people will see your liscense plate on any given day. On the internet, however, millions of people could see it..run your plates, and know your information...
Yeah exactly I mean yeah when you are driving a person can see your plate but they have no clue what all you have on your ride. Also if you have a Photo radar plate cover and you pass people its tuff to see your plate to begin with and if you have a charcoal plate cover too that makes it even more difficult. Also this is another reason why I don't have a custom plate I don't need a easy to remember plate in some towns that wouldn't be good over all.
