i ABSOLUTELY can not stand cops...

disclaimer: this is based on my experiences. if you have a problem with it, pack your bags, come to san antonio, and we can talk about it.

why are some...errr MOST cops so f*cking egotistical?! i swear you give some little a pr!ck, one who was probably the class nerd all throughout high school, a little badge and he runs around on some neo-**** power trip. i'm sick and tired of cops pulling me over for BULLSH!T just cause they have nothing better to do. f*ck the bullshit, if they are going to sterotype me because of the car i drive, im going to sterotype them because of the experiences ive had with them. i feel it's fair, don't you? i'm normally a calm and collected guy, but today i had a revelation and i felt i had to share this with you guys. (i'm pretty damn sure that i am hitting a familiar note with some of you). granted there are good/moral cops out there (ie quick), but i have yet to run into one. but because cops look at my car and are suddenly overwhelmed with an un-nerving sense of *****-envy, i have to exhaust all of my resources to take care of 3 insane tickets. in an earlier post, i described one such ticket, but i dont feel like looking for it right now. i will just let one of you guys (most likely somoene who spends about 93% of his/her waking hours on this site reading EVERY post just to see how many faults can be found) dig it up. it frustrates me because i try to be a moral citizen and uphold the laws (thus making their job easier imo), but then officer billy-club-in-anus pulls me over for using my turn signal only halfway through the turn at 3:30 in the morning. wtf is that bs? well, im about to wrap this up cause i have to save my energy cause i know i'm going to have to put someone in their place within 10 minutes...btw, venting is very theraputic, some of you should try it

ps- i would like to thank the moderators for having this forum cause i would rather be saying this here than in a courtroom

I understand you may feel annoyed, however, stereotypes are usually never correct.

BTW, you're supposed to signal 100 feet in advance, not halfway through the turn. A signal is designed to advise everyone on the road of what your intentions are.

Everyone please understand: **COPS DON'T MAKE THE LAWS, THEY JUST ENFORCE THEM.**

If you don't like a particular law, anyone is entitled to write to their elected official. Also, file a complaint if you feel you were unjustly treated.

I must admit cops are as*holes, but i have been pretty furtunate until now! Ive been pulled over for the same as you, but i didnt signal at all he said, i dont even know if i did or not, but either way i got pulled over, and you can tell he didnt care whether i signalled or not, he just wantred to check me out, like to make sure everything was cool in the car? he looked to see if we were buckled and if i had ne thing 2 drink, then he let me go, didnt even say anything about signalling!
THis sort of thing happens 2 me, i got pulled over near a school coz i was ripping it and he heard me, he chased me and told me 2 calm down, he doesnt wanna see me hit ne 1 or hurt myself, and he let me go!
no ticketttssss, just a warning
i even got pulled over for doing 160 km/h In a 60 km/h zone! 100 OVER SPEED. he let me go, told me i was as dumb as a sack of sh*t

I know this is me asking for a ticket on my way home tonight, but...I've only been harassed by cops except for one @ss that pulled me over because it "looked" like I was going fast (his words), anyway, all the others had good reasons to pull me over (80 in 55, no headlights in middle of night, no visibility of license plate, etc.). I've never gotten a ticket though for any of that. I do agree though that the turn signal thing was probably some 1st shift freak that had to cover 3rd shift that night and took it out on you.

quksilver,
you must admit that ticket for the turn signals is pretty damn ticky-tacky and was most likely done because the kid was driving a honda. you GOTTA at least give him that. you know there is no way a hot chick in a mercedes or even a white kid in a mustang or a beamer would get pulled over for that crap. down here, i get pulled over all the time and harrassed for nothing. they pull me out, run my plates, frisk me, and i have yet to get a ticket because they cant find anything wrong. also, everytime i drive with my black friends, they get pulled over because they drive nice cars. but you'll notice i have NEVER gotten pulled over when i ride w/ any white people. never. even when the mustangs all meet up and the cops break up their races, they NEVER give any 'stangs a ticket, just tell them to move along. hell, the cops even get out and admire their cars and talk it up like they are frat brothers. everytime there are import races tho, which is often, the cops will always pull at least a few cars over cuz they roll deep here in SD. just something to think about...........

Ive always been harassed by cops (i think my 30 tickets in 3 years justifies that). Its understandable to get pulled over if your doin something wrong (ie. speeding, no turn signal) but when they pull you over look you up and down and dont write a ticket I feel im getting harassed if they do that obviously they just wasted my time to check me out.

i forgot to mention...i was the ONLY person on the road. the cop was parked back at a local taco cabana. now, i have to take time out of my day to go to court to get it dismissed. that's what pisses me off. i believe that they should compensate me for the time that i have to miss work to go sit in that courtroom over this bs....now you see why im frustrated. the other 2 tickets are just as worse, but the blow-by-blow of the incidents are much longer...

What can I say...file a complaint then. In my area, cops stop the driver, not the car.

That doesn't matter. The law doesn't say "if you believe there is no one else on the road, there is no need to signal." No one gets compensated for these things, you are a defendant. If you're so frustrated, write to the district attorney and the superior of the officer.

Why does everyone always play the race card? It gets pretty old.

i played the "race card" cause that area of town is known to have racist cops, and the cop was white. ALSO, he called 2 other cop cars to the scene. a little bit of overkill imo...

Any citizen has the right to file a complaint at any time they want. You can address it to the Chief of the department who will then forward it to the appropriate superiors of that officer. You can also send a copy of the letter to the district attorney in that jurisdiction.

this issue is brought up because it is a very prevalant issue, even today. why dont you go down to the SD precinct, look on file and you will see my complaints. the officer who arrested me said to me, "now dont go pulling any of that jackie chan sh*t on me". now you tell me how that is not a racist statement? wtf? all asians know martial arts? plus i'm japanese, not chinese. and also, since you seem to think there is no reason to bring up the race issue with police, then why is it that when cops pull me over when I am driving they drive up next to me first, then pull in behind after they have seen what i look like? they do the same for the kids in the mustangs when i am a passenger, yet they dont get pulled over. tell me how that is not pulling over the driver. btw i have 4 complaints pending in SD, NOTHING has been done. i have no doubt tho, that i am now a target because i opened my mouth. also qucksilver, if you think i'm bitter and angry i am. i went to court about 6 years ago when i was just finishing high school in san jose because a police officer on the lightrail told me and a friend to move out of a crowded railcar stairwell. we had no choice but to stand there because there was no room otherwise. he pushed us off the next stop and pushed my friend to the ground, cuffed him and threw him against the pillar at the stop, then proceeded to kick me and choke me with his forearm on the ground when i tried to tell him to stop. o yea, he was black. and guess what, we filed a complaint, went to court, and the stupid cops had us sitting in their interrogation room under arrest after we made the complaint. charges were dropped, and we tried to pursue our complaint but we were not allowed to make a statement and were told the officer was being dealt with internally which we found out was untrue. when we finally went to court, after 8 months, the complaint was dismissed because we had no witnesses and it was considered necessary force. go figure......

That's only done by some cops though. Yes, it does exist, but people (thanks to the media) think that every cop is racist/corrupt/etc. It's certainly possible to be stopped because of your appearance, which is why if you think that is the case, file a complaint.

You don't have to file a complaint with the particular department, but you should start there. If the department is disregarding your complaint, you can always go to the attorney general.

trust me man, i filed complaint after complaint. they say, ok we'll be right back. we're gonna give this to our supervisor or the chief. then you sit there for like 4 hours staring at the wall while they all laugh at throwing your complaint away.

damn your guy's cops over there like in the east seem like they are gonna jump on you for everything, i have a friend who has a car that has headlights lower than 22' of the ground which in the state of california is illegal, he has a very loud exhaust thats over the limit decible wise in california, he has winshield washer lights, strobes in his blinkers, no orange reflectors to be found, and neon underglow, he hasnt been pulled over once yet, for those mods, hes been pulled over for speeding but the cops have never written him up for any of his offenses.

Police work is done much, much differently in California than in New York. If an officer gets a complaint in New York, the supervisor investigates it.

The race thing is definitlely an issue, your a fool if you think there isn't one. Cops here in SD shoot and kill vagrants or anyone acting strange at least once a week. Ask anyone that live here (Inspecta) and a lot of the time they are "not white". On the same note, it is unfair to generalize that all cops are like that. Obviously Quicksilver isn't a racist authority abuser, and has to defend his side of this debate. However, in all reality, filing a complaint against the police is like turning your ceiling fan on to combat a hurricane. There is no point, and nothing will ever get done. You just have to live under authority, albeit somtimes crooked. Such is life, what can yo do.
