My Apexi N1 and custom piping sounds "Airy", help
In the car, it has a nice deep sound, but from the outside, i've been told it sounds really airy and not like a perfomance muffler...... anyone know whats wrong? or how i can fix this? Thanks

sounds like you got a nice fart cannon there. you probably arnt running a pre silencer (resonator) in your B pipe. If you are, add another, and try installing the N1s silencer as well. ANd if your not runing a cat, thats also your problem.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the N1 made for turbo's or @least some of them? And if you got 3" piping, thats way too big for your civic. Your civic prob. doesn't produce enough power and there is no back pressure. So its just blowing out air.

Yep yep. Smaller piping is key in a dual setup. I think you want the two smaller pipes that come off of the Y pipe to have the same cross sectional area as the one pipe leading into the Y pipe. I know this is better for performance, but as for sound I don't know?
Edit: Why the hell am I talking about a dual exhaust?

i have the Hp racing 4-1 header w/cat extension, magnaflow 2 1/4" piping with the apex n1 "turbo" muffler. the non turbo is a teeny tiny muffler. just had to roll the piping back to make the 3" inlet on the muffler fit the smaller piping. i also removed my resonator. it has a nice deep throaty sound when idling and driving normally. when i really get on it, it screams (nothing like a fart cannon!) i set off plenty of car alarms, and get lots of compliments. some ooooldddd dude rolled his window down to ask me about it... and he was in a stang! haha. anyway, just thought i'd tell you my setup.. if it differs from yours.. maybe that has something to do with it. !??!?!? who knows.

N1 on N/A car ...? well u won't get the same sound on turbo cars but becareful of custom piping...alum. pipes will rust and that might cause some problems....and with headers goin into a 2.25 pipe isn't that like blowing through a cone?
corrode so that just happens? i think it rust then corrodes i am pretty sure cause i have a cutom 3' on my old eclipse GS-T and the pos did rust i got a huge hole in the pipe....so now i go with stainless steel cost more but better sound, performance, and longevity
