Rep Power: 0 just so y'all kno
i chickened out.
i had the bumper off (took me forever cuz my tabs got shaved flat from scrapin the bottom), i had the headlight out, unhooked all the connectors, took the bracket off of the headlight.
i looked at all the grey goop, thought of all those knife and screwdriver accidents i been reading about on the board, thought about how messy this could look with scratches and dents in the plastic from pulling and prying and i said "naaah".
and then i put everything bak together.
maybe someday ill try again.
flame away

Rep Power: 0 I did it and it worked just fine.
Just take your time and make sure you have some silicon to re-seal it so no moister gets in.
Took me only 3 hours and that with a hour for the silicon to dry.
If you got as far as the removal of the headlamp, you should have no porblems finishing the job.
"you never know unless you try"

Rep Power: 0 dats alright man, if ur a chicken then be a chicken.
hey u can't make a cow out of a chicken right?
honestly, i wanted to do clearing my headlights, but im not a mod guru so i also think i may mess up. anyhow, we see cars in certain ways, and once you've tried to change it, something is not right. i think cars looks ok stock as it is. cuz everytime i see a cleared 1998 accord, i always think it looks weird, very pale and bad.
the amber piece gives color to my silver car anyway, so its not bothering me much. and do you know that a car stock has more value?

Rep Power: 0 EZ way to take apart: bake in oven 250 F for a couple of minutes....Sucker will just pull apart.....Make sure to scrape as much glue off before it cools........And I'm not kidding about putting them in the oven ......Also, make sure to be very careful to not get glue on the chrome piece when you pull it out to get to the orange lens.......

Rep Power: 0 I agree. I was going to clear mine and when I thought about cracking that factory seal, I said forget it. Not to talk crap, but I bet those with cleared headlights start experiencing that fogged, faded look alot sooner than not.

But seriuosly man... If you follow the DIY, it'll work out just fine. Just take your time, and be careful, and it should work out fine.
Try it again, and good luck.....

Rep Power: 0 Tekniq's right. Robbclark1 and I had to put my headlights in the oven for a while before the sealant softened enough, but once it did, we hardly needed any tools to separate the lense. It just pulled apart by hand (although it was a bit warm to the touch). S'cool, playa. Just try again another day.

Rep Power: 0 I was scared as hay when I went to do mine as well. It took me 3 months to gather up the courage. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I had been looking at some projectors anyway, so I just said screw it, and went at it. My wife helped me and it turned out to be a lot easier than I ever thought. The look is definately worth the effort imo. I always see other vic owners looking at the front end of the car with this weird look.

Rep Power: 372 I say leave the stock headlights stock in case you ever sell the car...then you can put it all back tostock and sell your aftermarket parts. I have my original headlights all boxed up....I picked up a set of chrome angel eye projectors for $100, and the look and work great.

Rep Power: 0 It took me like 2 weeks to gain the courage to try it, and I did it slowly over like 3 days so I didn't rush anything at all. It's really easy now that I look back at it. That was my first mod, even before I shaved my emblems and Im proud I did it because it makes my civic stand out from all the other ones + I know I did it.
And actually the OEM cleared headlights probably work 5X better than the aftermarket projectors. I heard a lot of people say the projectors make a very dim looking headlight. More often than not your OEM stuff is going to work a lot better. My advice: Save some $, and get some ballz. Ask someone for help if you need to, I'd be willing to help sumone if they asked, and I had time too.

im not worried about selling the car. Im the kinda person that buys a car and rides it into the ground (we had a caddy that we ran 225,000 over 15 years before we gave it away). so im not really lookin for resale value or anything like that.
I am gonna eventually do it cuz projectors just cost too much. (225) although the $100 ones dont sound so bad. Would like to see how they look.
