Rough Idle

Hello everyone, about two weeks ago my 2005 Accord started to idle weird so I took it to oreillys and got a code for misfire and so I changed the park plugs. However that did not change the idling issue and ever since the car idles roughly before the engine stalls and turns off.

i can keep the engine on by pressing the gas, I have taken it for a drive but the acceleration is weak and the rpm’s drop to 500 once I come to a full stop and again the engine shuts off.

i replaced the vvt solenoid because that’s what P1009 code was telling me to change but after the change of part it did not fix the issue.

it was in good shape, not dirty or anything close to it. I also replaced the screen that’s behind the belt pulley. None of that fixed the issue. I recently got an oil change as well.

What brand was the new part?
Honda's are picky with aftermarket electronics

it was a doorman brand I believe, I will say that if I unplug the solenoid the engine is a lot more stable. As soon as I plug the terminals the engine idles roughly and eventually stalls and turns off.

Dorman?
Junk. Toss and buy an OEM Honda one.
Junkyard is your friend if you don't want to pay the price of a new one.

is it that bad? I can always put the old one back because at this point I don’t think that was the problem. I just went with what the code had affiliation with.

Re: Rough Idle

The new aftermarket is clearly the problem, put the old one back and see what happens. I would grab a junkyard one.
we have a new thread almost every day where someone puts an aftermarket sensor/solenoid on their car and suddenly have problems
