Piston rings bad?
The filter on my valve cover is smoking, and there is excessive amount of air coming out of the valve cover when you take the oil cap off. Would this cause loss of power and is it my piston rings?

It's almost definitely rings, which lowers compression, which lowers power.
Depending on what car you have, I would just drive it unto into the ground, and refill your oil as necessary. Replacing piston rings isn't easy/cheap.
