<< Are you going to say a smoker who died from lung cancer 'deserved to die'. >>

yes. and i do smoke, and i smoke in my car, and people tell me all the time that smoking will kill me (as if i dont know already) and i get even more $#(^ cause i smoke cloves, not regular cigarettes, so ppl tell me hearsay about how I am gonna cough up blood.

here is the deal. cali its illegal to smoke in closed places. therefore, if I smoke, I am only harming me. this is fine.

the problem becomes when you get into a car, you are not harming just yourself. you become a danger to yourself, and EVERYONE you share the road with.

if i die of lung cancer, will i have deserved to die? yes. i knew it. this 16 yr old DRIVER, did HE deserve to die? yes he did. he knew that what he was doing was wrong.

did his passenger deserve to get injured? maybe, he could have said something....

If he had hit another car, and killed THAT driver, did that driver deserve to die? certainly not! that driver was just trying to share the road with everyone else! just an innocent!

I quite frankly am happy that noone else got seriously hurt. it could have been alot worse than it was.

Damn that's messed. Who in the hell do you people think you are, surely not GOD. Saying that the kid deserved it? What if that was your father, brother or child? I bet you'd be sayin"Why! He didn't deserve this". Be respectful and don't add. Stupid a$$ comments. He needed to learn a lesson, but nobody deserves that. Him getting that ticket would have been lesson enough.

Not when he is taking MY life into his hands. He has no right. I am killing myself, and I am alright with that, because I have the choice. But when someone else takes away my freedoms, MY right to life, thats when i have a problem. I gave the govornment some of my rights so that others can be protected. He and countless others violate those rights all the time. This would indeed be terrible to all those concerned or not if it happened at a track. Because everyone on the track made the decision for themselves to take certain risks. But on a public road, we should be considerate of others, and not pointlessly endanger the lives of the motorists around us. that is just irresponsible.

Do what you want to yourself. I'll do what i want to myself. But don't think you can do whetever you want to me, I have basic rights, as do all other motorists on the road.

this is how i feel about such an incident as this one. in fact, the same thing happened to me in the summer of 2000. did i deserve to die for being on a bendy road in a 5.0 at night in the rain in a car thats black when i was not anywhere near being a suitable stick driver yet? (much less a muscle car w/ stick) yes i believe that i deserved all that was coming to me. thankfully all my friend and co-worker suffered was a bump on the head and being dazed for an hour. i dont care that i was in such bad shape that i had to be revived on a helicopter. that i can deal with. however if i had woken up and was told that my friend was dead and i was alive...i would have promptly crawled out of the hospital bed and thrown myself out of the window.

when people say that he deserved to die, what they are really saying is that in such a circumstance, the driver takes full responsibility and accepts any such outcome of the situation, whether he realizes it or not.
