tragic death
a good friend of mine's 16 year old brother died saturday night in a car accident. he was driving with 3 friends in his brand new pimped out civic coupe, going 120 mph when he saw a cop in the other lane. he slammed on the brakes and due to the rapid decceleration of the car, lost control, spun out, hit a bunch of stuff, and died. one other boy was listed in critical condition and the other walked away.
let this be a lesson, a very unfortunate one at that, not to behave this way. its just not worth it.

wow that is tragic, i spun out in the rain in my 5.0 coming home from work and ended up getting revived on the helicopter (got hit by a car on driver door) as for hitting the breaks when u see a cop in other lane, f-dat, i passed a cop going 85 mph, realized it when i looked in rearview, dropped to 4th and bounced. hitting the breaks just makes it that much easier for the cop to catch you, at least put up a fight.
EDIT: For all people that read this, let it be known that i am a complete psycopath.

that's sad man....young people are so interested in impressing their peers these days that they don't realize the dangers of speeding...we should do more about educating everyone about this dilema...we can't stop excessive speeding , but we can prevent more tragic accidents and hopefully make a difference.

i dont know what state you live in, but in here in NY 120 mph is 10 mph more than double the speed limit, and rest assured if you actually stop for the cop youre going to ***-pound prison. sorry but if im ever in a situation like that, id act like the breaks never even existed.

i uses to speed alot only like 15-25 over the speed limit but it all stoped when i got a ticket from a under cover cop i cant go more then 10 miles over with out being parnoied as ****

It's a terrible thing. I can't imagine what the parents are going through. It's one thing to haul *** when you are alone, but it's another thing to do it with others in the car. This is a great example as to what can happen when traveling at those speeds.
sorry to hear that.. i will say a prayer for the families.. and for everyone else on the road. right time, right place... right speed. i do speed.. a lot.. just hearing something like this hits me right in the stomach.. makes you think.. hard.

That is a very, very bad idea, and I'll explain why. When you see lights and/or a siren, you are required by law to stop. You would certainly end up in an "*** pound prison" when I caught up to you. Do keep in mind that nothing is faster than the Motorola two-way radio. You simply press a button and say "I'm chasing a fast one and I need assistance." Everyone and their sister will respond. We are trained in the academy to notice several things when we spot a potential customer--a description of a vehicle including the plate number (I have gotten the complete registration of vehicles traveling extremely fast in several instances), the number of occupants, and the direction of travel. I also have 8 helicopters at my disposal; I simply press a button and say "Helicopter on the air," and appraise them of the situation. Almost every department in New York State has access to helicopters, even small village departments and sheriff's offices.
It's almost guaranteed the cop would catch up to you. The New York State Municipal Police Training Council requires all officers to be heavily trained in EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operators Course). This enables us to drive under emergency conditions and also teaches us driving maneuvers that regular people do not know. In a Crown Victoria police interceptor model (highly souped up engine), I've caught up to a $130,000 Mercedes, a Ferrari, and a Porsche 911, just to name a few. I don't think I'd have a problem catching up to a Civic.
I've been in several pursuits, and guess what? The defendant never once got away. You will end up endangering the lives of innocent motorists, the police officers, and yourself. You will go to jail tired, and with several criminal and traffic charges against you. Red lights and a siren mean pull over; don't be a child, use your brain.
hey guys, my tops out at only 112 miles an hour. anyone here know how to take teh speed govenor off my car? id really like to know, when i go out racing corvettes and stuff......on the street..... not wearing my seat belt.....no helmet...... and using the ghetto rigged HP meter so i know what kinda power my car is REALLY making.......

Going 120 in a civic is asking for a crash. I don't feel sorry in the least for the kid that was killed. He deserves no sympathy for putting his friend in critical condition and the years of pain he put on his family and surviving friends. QCKSILVR is right on trying to evade cops, that's even more stupid.

quiksilvr, yes i do agree with them putting on their lights and chasing you. pull over. that time i bounced on the cop he kept his lights off. another thing, i have known people that have flew by cops in top end races, and before the cop even gets started the people take the nearest freeway exit and promptly get themselves lost in the barrens of suburbia.

this is what i think of my civic.
it might be a little blurry but it says "i crashed my 5.0 so im stuck with this"
Edit: You wont believe the number of anti-ricers that see this, come up to me, and congratulate me on admitting the fact that domestics own.

I agree. If a 16 yr old is driving a "brand new Pimped out Civic" doing 120 mph with other ppl hes obviously showing off, and its the truth, deserves what he got and no pity. Its rediculous, and mommy and daddy should think twice about what there buying little timmy whether it be a Prelude, Civic, festiva whatever.
Well if the lights were off, then by law he wasn't requesting you to pull over. The officer has to put the lights on to stop a car or direct you to stop in some fashion. I don't patrol freeways, but I can certainly follow someone anywhere that is evading me (the hot pursuit rule). If someone was to run from a highway patrol officer, he/she would have a description sent to us in the sector cars. The helicopters would also hear it and they can bascially see anything. So it's just not a good idea at all.
<< dunno, has worked for friends in the past quik >>
I can only speak for myself and some of the guys on my squad. I wouldn't try that stuff by me; the attitude of cops varies according to location; my department has a reputation for being almost as bad as state troopers as far as summons writers and we do make plenty of arrests. I write the fewest summonses in my precinct, but I go the whole 9 yards on someone that takes off on me.
QCKSILVR, your crown vic interceptor package isn't very souped up....
There have been numerous tests where the interceptor CV is actually slower than the civilian CV due to the crappy aerodynamics with the lightbar and the TON of extra equipment, including the beefed up suspension. In fact, the suspension is the most "souped up" thing about the car.....there are very few engine mods. If you've pulled over porches and ferraris, i can tell you that its not because you outran them, its because they stopped due to common sense and intelligence....and/or a police helicopter on their ***.
BTW, at first you seemed pretty cool, but to me you're starting to sound more and more like a typical a$$hole cop. I dont know, i think police should have a maximum term of service...after that they should be automatically retired because they seem to turn bitter due to all the crap they take. Being an officer is an ego trip, and i hope its not getting to you. Everyone is NOT a criminal, and not everyone just speeds because they think they're "fast and furious." Hopefully you take extenuating circumstances into account before you send people off to "*** pounding prisons" for exceeding the speed limit. Personally, i believe that i am a good driver (as does everyone) and i do speed, but only speed when i have a good reason to.
Also, during your high-speed chases where "no one has gotten away" from you, hopefully you take into account the danger that you're placing other innocent civilians in as well. In my city, chases are left up to the helicopter, not young testosterone-riddled officers who are determined not to break their perfect record. This technique is obviously the more safe and intelligent approach.....and generally more effective as well.
Peace.
