Provide some advice to a Newbie =)
What's up guys. I just bought my 2k1 civic EX. After doing some research and reading on the internet, I thought it would be wise to seek advice from a people who has the same car as I do. I see most of you have the regular bolt-on after market parts in your cars. One advantage most of you guys have is the fact that you guys are running 5-speeds so I can undersatnd all the fun stuff you guys are doing to your car. I really wanted to get basic stuff like rims, cai, springs and shocks, and exhaust, but i really dont know if a turbo kit is worth in a automatic trans (asking around-can buy a kit as early as next week if it is worth it on an auto. As much as I like civics, I think a civic is a civic. In other words, I dont think I can compete with a SI or other nice cars my friend have. You guys really think its worth the money to do the mods on a auto transmission? If I'm missing something, let me know.

IMO i say its what u wanna invest into your car. if you just want to make it look niec and stuff and not lookin to go super fast then of course no turbo. but it hasn't been done yet. as far as anyone at this site goes anyway. so it would be pretty speical. and yah its an auto. but its still gonna be alot fast than almost all other 7th gen civics.

If you wanna drop a turbo in your Civic, you better do it the right way and put a better engine in your car first.
If you want an ample gain, I'd say save up to get your engine ported & polished. From there on, no one really has said what you can do with the D block after the compression ratio has slightly been raised.
But since you have such a new car, it's naturally hard to get power out of it for the fact that the engine is unlike any of the older Civic generations. It's going to cost you an arm and a leg for a swap now if you're eager for a lot of power, but yet you'll get better gains by putting a turbo on a more powerful engine anyway.

You are not going to turn the vic into a sports car without a serious investment. You could go the nitrous route. Although, your engine will wear out much faster. The bolt-ons are good and they add a little power and it's just fun to try to squeeze a little more out of these engines. You can just go for a show car. Just keep in mind that a nice looking show car almost always looks fast but the vic simply is not. I am always curious as to why one makes a slow car LOOK incredibly fast. To each his own is my answer.

Yeah, as far as we know they havent made a turbo for the Civic yet, but thats not to say that there isnt on in the works somewhere, but with a group this size we have a fairly extensive network of people and if one was around you would think we would have heard by now. But for the time being we are just going for show, who knows what will happen in the next little while, we might have S/C's or Turbos for the cars.

You could do what I'm planning to do... Just buy mods that you know will transfer to the last model year of the civic. That might be in 2005, or maybe 2006. Hopefully then Honda will upgrade the engine on the civic in some way. Maybe a K series (from the new 2002 Si)? Maybe like the concept civic with higher compression? Who knows... Anyway, that's my plan. Just remember that something like a turbo or nitrous will make your car faster no matter what the transmition. Oh yeah, no turbo kit out for our cars yet! That is unless you go custom.
first of all, nice nick.... you are a noob 4 life... Don't matta though.
Anyway, I agree with everyone. As for now, there isn't much you can do. Only small power gains at a time. Go for show for now, at least your car will look fast while parked.

One mo thing, all these kids in NYC wants to race my car when they pull up right next to me...
Haha..isn't that funny. For now, I can't do anything, but given some time, I tend to change that. =)
