I agree - at the very least though, if like two or three people in a ROW are passing you on the right, take the hint and move the F over! It's so rediculous to see that happen and the person just not budge! [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif[/IMG]

I love this topic =) I too hate people going slow in the left lane, but I've learned that it's so much easier to just change lanes
and pass people (if you can) than to try and tailgate them and get them to move, getting yourself and possibly the driver infront
of you all agitated. Some people need to slow down though... I usually go 80 on the highway, and there's always some clown
doing 90+, not realizing that they're not going to get wherever they're going significantly faster.

It's always funny seeing people drive really fast, passing cars up, weaving, etc... just to see them again again next to you or not
too far from you while you've been driving a lot slower than them.

and just like others, I move over to lane #2 after I'm done passing cars on the left, I don't like riding in the left lane too much, cops
know that's where the speeders are!

Well..... If somebody is going faster in the left lane, should you move over??? yes/maybe.....

If you are driving in the middle lane and someone is going slower than the SPEED LIMIT, then you move over into the left lane to pass them up, then move back into the middle lane... But there is also one thing too..... the SPEED LIMIT.

Most of the freeways I drive on here in SoCal are at least 4 lanes wide, when I'm speeding I just go around slower traffic. I utilize all lanes. I also always make sure to signal way ahead of time so they don't try to get out of my way and end up hopping in front of me again.

First off, there's no need for name calling...

ok ok ok..... like i said..... There is a thing called the SPEED LIMIT which, for example here in Texas, is 70mph... Signs here too say "slower traffic stay to the right".... they don't say "People who are doing the Speed Limit get outta the way of the law breakers"... The fact is that IT'S THE LAW...... 70MPH... if you go over that then you are breakin the law... if a cop gives you a ticket for doin 71 or 72mph in a 70mph zone so be it... he can because its LAW.. it will suck but it's still the law. The signs don't say "middle and right lanes-70pmh, left lane-whatever you wanna do"

Hefe - I can understand what you're saying. But I dont think it's really your 'call' to make sure people drive below the speed limit. Thats what cops are for. And if you're trying to say speeders need to obey the traffic laws...isnt 'left lane for passing only' one of the laws? You really shouldnt be 'making' people pass on the right cause that would put other drivers in danger, since they're expecting people to pass on their left, not their right. I've seen 2 incidents where people are being courteous to me and end up almost hitting someone on their right cause the other driver was passing on that side for absolutely no reason.

2. -yes it is one of the laws/signs......but that doesn't mean that you can drive down it doing 90mph for ten miles, and "PASS" all of the other drivers but you are still driving in the left lane .....the left lane is for passing ONLY... you drive down the middle lane doing 70mph... someone in front of you is doing 60mph... you move over to the left lane pass them then move back into the middle lane.

Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding, but from what you've been saying and the title of the thread, it seems to me like you're saying if you're doing the speed limit in the left lane, you're not going to move over. :shrug;

I personally try to get into the middle lane if it's 'appropriate', but if I pass a car and I know I'm gonna be passing the next car in the next 30 seconds, I'm not gonna weave in and out the left and middle lanes. Whats the point in that? If thats how the traffic is for the next 10 miles, damn straight I'll be in the left lane the whole time. And I dont think anyone is disputing your above statement..but thats not the point of the thread. [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/IMG]

I thought you said that the left lane was for passing. [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/IMG] Wouldn't that person flying up on your bumper be wanting to pass you in the left lane?

If you are riding in the left lane doing the speed limit, why not just ride over in the right lane with grandma and grandpa like you're supposed to?

OK heres a story for you! I was following my buddy in my accord v6 he was driving his 6 month old s2000. Some punk "A" red neck in his pos ford truck comes flying on my rear so I move over into the middle lane. My friend decides he wasn't going to pull over...he was already going like 85. Anyway this hick is riding my buddies *** then he hits him! I was like what the hell. Next thing I know he spun my buddie! He spun around like 5-6 times..lucky not flipping! So I checked my mirror and my buddies car was ok so I floored it and caught up to this punk got his plate number! I was going about 115-120 trying to catch him! So I get his number and slow down and the next thing I know two cops come flying out of no where! and the helicopter the highway patrol has is flying over head! anyway they were chasing him...he was a rapist and tried to kill the lady. They did return the favor and spun him out going about 90. Lucky bastard lived. After all this they came and talked to me and they were impressed at my accord and how quickly I caught up with him. They said that they were right behind me and I just left them in the dust. One of them gave me the talk about speding and letting them do their job....blah...blah...blah. The guy was sentenced to 50 years no parole!

A year ago I was involved in a head on collision on teh Cuesta Grade. The driver that hit me was killed. The accident occurred simply because of undue speed, and lack of attention on the part of the other driver. I work at Cal Poly and live in Paso Robles, and I drive on Hwy 101 every day.
Every day I witness such drivers that are in such a big hurry to get where they are going that they take their own lives and the lives of everyone else on teh road into their hands. They pass at high rates of speed and swerve in front of you. They make lewd gestures because they feel you are not driving fast enough, or that they feel that you are in THEIR way. Time and again I have had cars pass me when I am travlelling 75 mph. I have had cars pass me down teh grade when i am going over 60 mph. Driving the grade is a dangerous undertaking these days, yet there are people that insist on treating it like the Indianapolis 500.
If older drivers, responsible drivers, upset you, call teh Hyway Patrol and report them. Please do not use the vigilante approach and teach them a lesson by demonstrating high rates of speed, tricky lane changing, and middle finger manipulation to make your point.
When you do, it is you abd your driving that is unbearable.

Well put. I give people breaks, but I have a zero tolerance level for aggressive and erradic driving, for which I issue summonses. The vigilante approach is not appreciate by any police officer; the best thing you can do is call us, give us the best description possible, and let us handle it from there.
