Get out of the left lane!!!!

Ok... let's get one thing straight, If you're in the left lane doing 70 mph, you shouldnt be in the left lane! I mean come on the left lane is for passing! Not only is it dangerous riding in that left lane at slow speeds, it also blocks traffic. What would you say is a general rule of thumb for the speed you should do in the left lane? Is anybody else fed up with slamming on your brakes on a nice straight away because grandpa in his buick can't drive?!?!?! Someone PLEASE support me, if not flame on...

Well, the reason I posted this was because I was on my way to in area in Massachusetts called "Cape Cod" mwhen a funny thing happened. I came up to a car in the left lane doing no more than 60! Anyways, I gave him space but stayed close to just ort of let him know he needs to move. Oh, by the way he was in an Acura CL type s. ANYWAYS, when he switched lanes and I went by him doing about 80, I noticed he was giving me the finger.... So, I slammed on my breaks and got right next to him. He rolled down his window and I rolled down mine. He shouted "You should slow down before I call the cops." I yelled back to him "Call the cops, I wasnt speeding, you were doin [swear] 60!!! He shouted back "i was distracted because I was trying to dial my cell phone" "Ok" I shouted back, your a ... [swear] anyways he apologized and gave me the thumbs up SO I hit it up to about a 100 and gave him the finger... haha

Regulatorracing from Woosta? I was just there over the weekend at the import show...

Back to the topic at hand: I totally agree, people need to stay in the middle or right lane if there not going with the flow of traffic.. My avg speed is 80 and I'm always coming up on other cars.

I cant believe that guy actually said he was distracted due to dialing his cell phone.. What a MO-ron!!!

I don't consider 70 slow for the left lane, but anyway, slow traffic is required to keep right.

Anyway, I really don't like when they do that either. It just creates a bottleneck on the highway because one person can't go 5mph faster and get in the right lane. What can you do.

It's never going to change ppl...

that's why there's road rage and people pass on the right... usually I give them like 10 seconds or so, before I tail them to let them know...

I try my best to remember to move back to the 2nd lane from left after I pass.

I know what you mean...Im flying down the freeway and Im comin up on a car in the left lane. I slam on my brakes and the damn thing still doesnt get over. I get the bird and Im trying to do the right thing by not passing on the right. I think they should have drivers ed review for some of these morons.

I work for the Sheriffs Office and when I drive my patrol vehicle I still get cut off and tailgated. Are people just stupid?? I guess common sense is a rare thing to have these days.

here you cna get paid to take an alternate route to work and drive slow....its called traffic control.

ive gotten two tickets, one for 103, the other for 90. I am a reformed speeder. I now drive with cruise control locked in at 70-73....

I always drive in teh fast lane. there are only two lanes on hwy 101, left and right. its a very farmish area compared to a dense urban area. If i drive only 70 in a three lane hwyway you can be damn sure ill be in teh middle lane. but 2 lanes? im not gonna follow some truck while it kicks up gravel into my windshild.

speeding is ILLEGAL. it is not safe, and you dont benefit ANYONE by doing it. Ive done some calculations. on hyway 17 south, it is considered the MOST DANGEROUS stretch of 8 miles of road in the country (san jose to santa cruz) years of truckers have not only taken the banks out of the turns, they are now reverse banked. people have timed themselves doing that stretch of road as FAST as they could, then again at the speed limit. there was a 45 second difference. is 45 seconds worth your life? maybe, i know how some of you feel ^^^^^^ but its not worth my life.

i remember one day going up to san jose north on 101, playing loud music, i suddenly noticed a cop talgating me. i dunno how long he had been there, but i began to sweat. then a car passed me on teh right, doing at least 80. i got to watch teh cop pull him over before my eyes. better him than me

after reforming, I find that nothing is more fun than a pissed person in teh fast lane. ever hear dennis leary's song "*******?" I drive the speed limit. there are sparse cars in teh righ tlane. you got a problem with it deal.

if you are willing to break the law by speeding, then you should be more than prepared to break the law by passing on the right.

and if you make a fuss about it, i can throw down when needed. a pissy 6th gen woman driver didnt like it when she flew by me on the right after flashing her brights at me a bunch of time; I tailgated her for 20 miles. not uncomfortable tailgating, like bumper to bumper. serves her right for rudeness. most people are decent and just pass on teh righ ttho.

your car is a piece of transportation, you can have fun without going 75840750743578923 miles per hour!!!!!!!

i agree with qcksilvr on this one, 70 isnt slow for the fast lane, at least not around here where most of the speed limits on the highways are 55. anything over 70 and youre asking to get pulled over if theres a cop around

Yep I hear ya on that, the interstate here is 75 and I hate people who go the speed limit in the left lane or even slower and won't get over. You have to use the right lane sometime to get the point acrossed to them get out of the lane your going to slow. Small towns I have found it is worse, especially here in Prescott, AZ where I am at now. Old retirees and just stupid people here on the roads LOL People that stupid in the left lane should seriously have to go back to drivers ED.

People who ride in the left lane and don't get over are a bunch of low class sheite heads! People think they can ride in the left lane going whatever speed they want to go and have everyone go around them. Why do they do it? Cause they have severe mental problems. They know they aren't supposed to be in the left lane! They enjoy it because they can go 50 and never have to get over or do anything but cruise along. I usually pass these low class pieces of trash in the right lane and cut them off when I get back over into the left lane.

I say that if you are in the left lane, you should get over anytime someone gets on your tail. I even move over if I am passing someone and I see a car coming in hot on my bumper.

Bottom Fricckkken LIne: The left lane is for the people hauling ***. If you are not, then get the flip over. And it's not your decision to decide how fast someone can go on the highway! Who are you, God? I just can't stand the pieces of sheite.

Oh yeah, a nice flash of the high beams usually gets their attention. If that doesn't work, honk the horn. Then, when you do pass, cut em off so bad that if they don't hit the brakes your going to meet their front fender. And don't think they won't hit those breaks because it will be your fault. At highway speeds, w/o even thinking about it, they'll hit those brakes and stop breathing for a few seconds! The flippen low class, I am an idiot and like to **** people off, left lane drivers.......man, this topic really stirred up some anger!

Hey,

I can understand some speed limit drivers in the left lane, for instance a off-ramp to another freeway is coming up and the entrance is on the left lane. This happens alot here in a multiple freeways in Los Angeles.

But I get the point, and when there is no instance of that. I want to freaking bring out a tank and run their asses over.

It is pretty assey

I usually go 80-85 mph, and when I see a car in front of me going slow, and the right lane is filled with another snail, I develop a boil in my neck from the restrained anger in me.

What really bugs me sometimes is when the car notices me in his rear view and does a brake check.

I swear if I didn't have a fixed up car, and a raggy car, I would have seriously ram the idiot or at least throw pennies at the person.

Hear hear. That and people not using turn signals in dense traffic are my two main peeves. If you're in the left lane and there's no one ahead of you, you really should get outta the way. I give people like 10 seconds else I'll pass on the right. If there's traffic on the right, I'll yo-yo a bit to let them know they need to be moving up and moving over. I really hate weaving in and out of traffic and passing on the right, but sometimes, it just has to be done. I dont like putting other people in danger when they expect no one to be pulling past them on the right when someone is being just plain oblivious on the left. And I always give a mental 'Thank you' to those that moved well before I get there. Maybe I'll even start giving Thank you hand gesture from now on too.

Yea, better be careful when giving the finger. Some woman gave a slow *** redneck the finger and guess what? She died in hospital due to shotgun wounds to her left chest and head. Driver just pulled up beside her, windows came down and boom.

Is it really worth it?

What is up with all you idiots going 80-100mph on a highway? You all really need to sit down and think to yourself. "Where do I need to go so fast that I am honking and flashing the driver in the left lane?" Come on now. What's the hurry? Unless you're driving a Ambulance or a police cruiser, slow down. Just because some of you guys think blasting by 84' corolla's and minivan is cool, slow down. For your own safety. Going 70 is slow?? Maybe you guys in Montana, or Germany think 70 is slow... but here in DC, you'll get your *** pulled over for that. Now, if there is someone on the far left lane that is OBVIOUSLY going 50mph, then you should pass the person and move on. No need to honk and flash the poor old granny or gramps...Move on. That's called stress...or road rage. You'll give yourself a heartattack. That's my daily therapy session for you guys.

70 isn't fast. Most of the highways here in Southern California have a speed limit of 70.

The national insurance institute did a study and found that slow moving cars cause more accidents than fast moving cars. Think about it. You come up on some moron driving under the speed limit and you have to brake and find a spot to safely merge into faster traffic to get around him. Doing a few miles over the speed limit isn't a bad thing IMO.

On the other band of the spectrum, someone going 100mph usually freaks out other drivers as he bears down on them, and the speeding driver doesn't have much time to react to unforseen circumstances.

All things considered, I believe going 5-10mph over the speed limit in good traffic conditions is not a bad thing.
