Rep Power: 0 I ordered my 2012 Civic today!
Here (Thailand) cars are very overpriced but don't be scared by the price.
I chose the 2012 Civic E 1.8L Navi. Almost the top Civic. $31,000. Just keep in mind used cars here are really expensive especially Hondas and Toyotas. In 10 years i am positive they will give me $20,000 at least for it. i sold my crap tiny Honda City (like a small Fit) and they gave me $10,000 for it cash. And the insurance here is super cheap for full premium 1st class coverage. It's like $600 a year.
Anyway. I just gave the deposit and waiting on the bank person to go fill out the paper work.
The loan is at 3% interest which is standard here. There is no such thing as a Credit or Fico score.
But. Today I test drove it for the first time. One thing is looking at it. A bit narrow inside yet comfortable. It's a Honda so it's not all luxury, for the eyes at least. THEN you turn it on. Put it in D and start down the road. I don't know if the Vtec here is different than in the USA, but I'm telling you, if you close your eyes you would swear you were driving a C class or 3 series BMW. I am not talking about power and performance, just the ride quality and super almost 0 cabin noise. It's like driving a cloud. Super precise brakes and steering, it's a joy to drive.
I really can't wait. This Civic is MILES ahead of what they had last year (which wasn't the same civic as the USA one).
I'll leave this thread here and post pictures so you guys can see the Thailand Civic.

Ok. Getting closer. Went to the dealer and met with the bank person. Gave her all the paper work. They should call tomorrow at some point. Then I'll give the down payment.
I can't take a pic of it because the one they have for show is the Civic S 2012 and not the E. but I took a pic of the outside anyway
The car is not the most modern or softest materials. Actually, some say at first glance a Civic 2012 is stuck in the 90's. But sit inside and drive it and it says "Hi. That piece of crap Cruze or Elantra that looks all so nice will last you a year before you have some sort of major meltdown. I'm not good looking, but I'm quality and you can drive me and change the oil for the next 100,000 miles without having to worry about me".
I just sold my 1 year old Cruze. Nightmare. I'll stick with the Civic.
Forget the reviews. There's a reason why it is still the #1-#2 best selling car in the USA despite the bad press. Don't read Internet reviews. Just go drive one. And never mind the hard plastics. My Cruze had plenty of soft plastics and all that did was scratch within a week. Trust them. They've been making this car for 40 years.

Oh and looking at the brochure here basically what they'll do in the USA is put the MODULO kit you can order here now
Changes the front, but I'm going to leave it as it comes. I'm just tinting the windows a bit and that's it.

Chevy Cruze is crap and Chevrolet service is even worse.
Had to sell it after 15 months. Can't wait for my Honda.
I will never again buy a GM product.
See the red one up there? That was mine
That's where it spent the last 5 months I owned it. Actually, it all started going down after 60 days or so. Trumpet sound from the fuel tank. All downhill from there.

Gear, you live in the right place.
The Asian Civic has different look and it has fancier stuff like mirrors can be folded. In the past, I remembered that my 96 civic VTi (highest trim) didn't have any airbag but US Civic had airbags which were mandatory. There was no regulation and I am not sure if they will have one or not. But I think because american cars sold in Thailand offered lots more than Japanese builders so I think they raised their standards which are good for consumer anyway.
Congratulation for the new car. My uncle ordered Civic but he hasn't received his car yet.
For US, Civic 2013 is coming out and it looks great. I haven't seen the interior pictures but there is no HID... I hope there is an option!!
