Engine dying when using indicators

I have had my Honda Civic 1.3i (year 2000) for 7 years now, never had a problem and love it to pieces. Yesterday i put the indicator on and the engine died - i automatically thought I must have stalled the car and turned the key, started straight away. Thought nothing more of it, but today it has now happened 4 times, it only happens when you indicate (but not all the time), and each time it starts straight away after - does anyone have any idea on what could be causing it. Have also just tried the windscreen wipers, did the same, but again not every time

Re: Engine dying when using indicators

Based only on what you have written, I have no helpful info for you.
Does not sound familiar at all.

Does it also try to die with other electrical loads? (headlights, fans?)
Maybe check the charging system?

1.3 L? You in the US?

Sounds like any small electrical load is killing the engine.

Try the headlights and other electronics and see if it still does it.

We tried the Windscreen washers as well, and occasionally the engine died again. It is now believed that it could be the ignition switch that needs replacing

Good guess.
When it dies, all of the dash lights are usually dark as if the switch was turned off. Wiggle the key and dash lights flicker and come back on.

The ignition switches were covered by a recall over here, but only the first one was covered. The owner had to buy the next switch.
