What is considered totalled??
<< or if a structural member of the car cannot be repaired in a manner which would meet OEM specifications >>
Such as the engine which would be the most important part of the car.
Here is what exactly happened to my car...
1) My passenger rear quarter panel is CRUSHED in pretty bad
2) My rear bumper is GONE
3) My tailight is GONE
4) My rear axle is crushed in (shock/strut/spring) pretty much GONE
Thats what all I can tell... dunno if the frame was damaged or anything underneath the car... going to get my estimate on Monday... I'm hoping is TOTALLED, so I can get another car!

Thats about the same damage that was done to my car. But buy the time all the repairs were done they replaced a lot more then you might think. The body shop replaced the back windsheild and the passengers qtr glass, they wern't broke in the wreck but they still replaced them. I could go on and on about the stuff they reaplaced in my car that they didn't need to. I think they were sucking the ins. company dry. Total damage over $8000 on my EX. The wrecker service told me that 60% damage of the value is usually totalled . But I'm sure every ins. company has there own policy on this .
On a side note it took 3 month to get my car fixed The body shop kept claiming they had a hard time getting parts and when they did get the parts they were damaged so they had to re order and the one part they needed was on back order for a month and a half. B.S. !
To make matters worse the a**hole that hit me, the car he was driving didn't have ins. But how was he to know it didn't have ins. because after all the car WAS stolden! But i can understand how he might not of had time to find out if the car had ins. since he had just stabbed a person before stealing the car . To make matters after the wreck while I was on the phone to 911 he ran across the street and climbed on the back of a motorcycle and left before the cops showed BACK up. Yes i said BACK up, two cop cars drive right by like 45 seconds after the wreck and didn't stop the same two cop cars came back 15 min. latter. When they showed up they found a bloody kitchen knife in the floor board and a purse full and I mean FULL of money.
So i was without my car for 3 months I had to drive a company van around the whole time. I claimed the wreck on my collision and had to pay my $500 deductable . But my ins. did not raise . So for your sake I hope your car is totaled

Yeah, my insurance company thinks totalled is around 60% of the KBB value of the car in damages, though I think this might have some exceptions. I had a bout with an underinsured motorist hitting me. Thank god for my uninsured/underinsured protection, but I am still out the 1k deductable...but they gave me a fair amount for the car. I'm going to always get this option since there are alot of ppl. w/ no insurance. That should be a jail term, but I digress.
I hope your car is totalled since they never ride the same after a major fix-up. My guess is that you will be totalled. Damage to the axles or frame will usually push it past the limit.

Insurance company's have a general rule they follow. If the total damage of a car exceeds 70% of a car's NADA value the company will usually total out the car.
