Re: Civic 9th Gen SI

I like the 4-door Si too, unfortunately I think I will be upgrading to something with AWD when it comes time to replace the civic. Sorry honda...

Re: Civic 9th Gen SI

i'm sorry but i don't think my next car will be a honda. they're getting worse every generation. seriously! they keep getting bigger, heavier, less hp and loosing out to other companies when it comes to design. look at the old preludes, ****ing awesome. i still see them driving around and want one, agressive front end low profile and decent hp. same with older civics, the del sol, s2k, nsx. the new stuff just looks like the designer drew an oval...

i was hopeful when i saw the HSV and when it was rumored to be coming out as a street car for 2012. but now i just don't know.

i'm liking the lines in the nissans, infinities and even the hyundais much better.

at least they havn't compleatly destroyed their line up. i do like the accord. a bit big for the four cylinder "177hp and 190hp engines, but the The 2012 Accord’s V-6 will remain a 3.5-liter and should continue with 271 horsepower." and still looks good.

Re: Civic 9th Gen SI

Yeah its true, have not seen a great deal of real innovation/improvement in Honda over the last few years, and other manufacturers like hyundai keep moving up (admittedly its easier when you start out making crap). No real sports cars, their hybrids haven't taken off. Civic and accord seem to hold their spots to some degree. But the CR-Z? Please.

CRZ looks better!
They did compare with a stock CRX in the Grassroots magazine and they came pretty equal. Last issue, they did compare with Mazda2 and Mini and it was not too far either

Re: Civic 9th Gen SI

honda is finished, all the reasons i used to want one are gone. they now have a lineup of heavy, slow, and bulky cars that are not fun to drive or even modify. i used to think the civic died in 2000, but the 01-05 still have some soul left in them. after 2005, it pretty much died and everything failed for them. im actually thinking about buying some other brands now since my next car will be a full electric (once they become good) or a really nice hybrid. the hyundai is darn good esp the new sonata. i bet the cr-z will be discontinued in a year or two. it doesnt do anything well. honda really needs to get their act together or they will be left in the dust.

Re: Civic 9th Gen SI

Sorry but there is no way the HSV will become a production car.And if it did, imagine the price tag on it.Remember the NSX's ridiculous price tag.If it ever became a production car,it's definitely around the GT-R's price, maybe even over $100,000.But I still think Honda won't put the HSV into production.I think the CR-Z shoulda just been a sports car,not a hybrid. As of the last 4 or 5 years,Honda has done nothing to please the consumers. The CR-Z may be quite popular among some, but when it comes down to business, the CR-Z mileage doesn't compare to the Prius or Insight,It may look better and cost less, but I don't know. The only Honda I want right now is a two door Accord.More power than the Civic, and more stylish.Hope the Accord will survive.

Mazda?(for non electric) Despite the cheesy grill, they have some spirit left in them IMHO, I actually like the 2. I really wanna test drive one. And the MazdaSpeed3 ain't too bad in terms of performance. Just sucks it's FWD. Honda and Toyota have been relying on their rep to sell cars, which is okay, but it's allowing the competition to one up them in other areas. Most cars are pretty damn reliable nowadays and with new additions like DFI and a bunch of other stuff, fuel economy is getting much better, not to mention performance. Lower costs and a number of other things too. Sorry to ramble, but I feel the way you do about this and it's getting under my skin because they can do better, but have let the bean counters control stuff. I won't complain about safety, I just wish they could figure out how to not make these cars so damn ugly now.

I don't mind the looks of the CRZ, the problem is that it's a crummy sports car and a crummy hybrid. The mileage is really nothing special, it's not practical, and it at best "feels sporty" - the numbers are just not there. I think the problem is that Honda tried to hit too many bases, and trying to keep the price in the practical civic range will kill them. They could add 10k to the price tag, put in a V6 with that selectable cylinders (shuts off cylinders for economy), then you could get normal/good mileage and put out enough horses to be interesting.

Re: Civic 9th Gen SI

^I'm not sure anyone would buy that.At $30,000,it's just like the S2000.Maybe not as appealing to the consumers as the S2000 since it's not a convertible, and not as fast as an S2K.The CR-Z will be gone in the next 5 years.Maybe 3.

Re: Civic 9th Gen SI

here are some concepts i drew up for what i'd go with as the designer for honda.

i first drew the si hatchback based off the crz and the old 95 hatch, from there i drew the coupe based off my hatch and the 7th gen coupe, then the four door then a sleeker accord with a longer front end for the v6 and finally a smaller boxier s2000.

crz

i like the hatch, the accord and s2k. i think the coupe and sedan need some work.

Re: Civic 9th Gen SI

My next car likely won't be a Honda, I don't mind 8g Civics and Accords, but they're are bigger and better things in my future I hope.

Honda is just responding to what the market demands, people aren't satisfied with a basic economy car with a stripped down list of features anymore, as a result the weights gone up and people have continued to buy them their cars. Hondas not to blame for not offering 1600lb CRXs anymore, it's society.

Re: Civic 9th Gen SI

The 05 Acura TSX that my buddy has (the last year they made them in Japan) is really nice. The newer TSX's aren't made in Japan anymore and kinda lack quality. I wouldnt mind driving his car, maniny because he supercharged it and Comptec made a bunch of parts for it... but honestly, I wont buy another honda unless its an S2000, and I'm starting to like them less and less as the years go on.

I'll hold on to my Vic for you . I think once I graduate, start a career, and get my ducks in a row, I'll turn the Si into a track car and get a Mazda 3 or 2, or maybe a WRX.

After this past winter (it's not even over!) I'm thinking the same. When I have to do a lap around the parking lot just to pick up enough speed to make it out, then take a detour to work to avoid getting stuck behind a soccer mom crawling gingerly up the hill in her SUV (protecting her kids, of course, letting me slide down the hill and kill somebody else's)... the WRX just seems like the best deal out there. Maybe a lancer ralliart? Not a lot of Mitsubishi dealers in RI.

Of course I could probably go out and find some better tires, but it's harder to fantasize about.

A 2.4L engine that produces 200hp.Lol,the Z3 was 2.0L and produced 200hp.Well to the crank.I wish dealers would just put how much WHP a car has.170ft/lb torque, not bad.The body styling is still a turnoff for me though.

Re: Civic 9th Gen SI

ya they're all very similar. but the accord has a more agressive spoiler and a one piece lower body, where as the civics have higher bodies and lip kits (saving money and using lower quality suspention as usual). the s2k was suposed to look boxier in the back and has smaller square rear lights in place of the long diamond lights.

Re: Civic 9th Gen SI

I draw pretty bad but, dude, you gotta take more than 5 seconds to draw those concepts.

EDIT: I feel bad, I shouldn't have said that.

I hate lights that bulge out. I think as a general rule, lights should be kept within the shape of the body. I like the 2010 Accord, but the newer Accord looks like **** (IMO) - for this reason.

I know the 8th gen coupe is disliked around here but I love the design. My next car will either be an 8th gen SI or a 2010 Accord V6.

SUPER EDIT: I agree with the 9th gen not deserving to be called a 9th gen. Seems more like a marketing ploy.
