return of the newbie ... brake pedal sinks

hi guys,

newbie question again.

i've been noticing that when i'm stopped at a stoplight (or a stop sign for that matter, i suppose it really doesnt matter which) and my foot is resting on the brake, after about 5 seconds or so, my foot sinks in a little more. what gives? it doesnt happen every time, but it happens often enough for me to notice (and i'm usually pretty oblivious to most things)

any thoughts or comments, please let me know. thanks!!

gasboy

Mine does that when the A/C is on, too. Something probably having to do with either vacuum pressure somewhere or idle speed when the compressor kicks on and off. It feels weird the first time it happens, though.

I think it's normal. But you should post this in the problems/issues forum

Seems like several of my hondas have done that. I don't think it is anything to worry about. It probably just looses pressure or something or maybe it is released after a certain period. Hellll, I don't know what it is from but it is normal.

It happens after you're sitting still for a few seconds right? It's cause your master cylinder has a sensor in it to tell how many RPM's your running at, the higher the RPM's, the more assistance your master cylinder wil give your foot to the brakes, so your don't have to push as far. After you have stopped, the master cylinder no longer needs to apply as much pressure(cause you're stopped), so it "relaxes" and your foot sinks the brake pedal closer to the floor, in order to maintain the same pressure on the rotors/drums. Clear as mud? It's normal for Honda's to do this, it's the way they are designed.
