My twin turbo cobra
Re: My twin turbo cobra
Yahhh it was definitely wasted on a Ford
So many of you guys love to say "It's a Ford" but have NO clue what kind of car the Terminator really is...believe me...it's not "Just a Ford".
For some reason so many guys think LS1's are the most amazing things on the planet. They have more cubic inches...that's it...and DEFINITELY more expensive to modify then my car. I would like to see a stock LS1 not blow up pushing 1,000whp. The 03/04 cobras can do it all day.
And they keep the roads in Laguna well maintained that's for sure. It's always a nice drive!
And nopeee...the right side looks just like the left. Everywhere I park tho the curb is on the right, etc. so I just take pics from that side

If a LS1 has 1000hp, then it is not stock you silly goose. You are right the iron block is a weight sacrifice for more strength and is build for boost, when compared with the N/A LS1 block. Of course when you build a engine to get boosted it will have better internals. That's like comparing the stock 4.6 to a LS9. So boosting an LS1 with stock internals would probably blow it. A reasonable comparison would be "Terminator engine, to the supercharged LS9 (or LS3 whatever you want to call it) in the ZR1. It is the only LS series that is built to handle boost from the factory. But you are right, I don't know what I am talking about. lol

Re: My twin turbo cobra
I know exactly what type of car it is. And it is nice for a Mustang. It has a good bottom end and is the fastest SVT out there.

And that's that whole point....with the LS1's you have to BUILD it to handle boost...with my car it's already built to handle boost from the factory not to mention can easily handle over 800whp all day every day on the STOCK motor it came with. I have a built engine in mine now since someday I will be upgrading the turbos to make well over 1,000whp.
And comparing the 4.6L 281ci V8 in the terminator is not even CLOSE to a good comparison when talking about the 6.2L 376ci V8...not to mention the stock cobra engine has a compression ratio of 8.5:1 while the LS9 has a compression ratio of 9.0:1....and if you don't think that small compression ratio alone makes a difference, believe me I know...my new engine is 9.0:1 now. Not to mention the fact that the vette that has an LS9 in it costs $100,000 while the Terminator brand new was about $36,000. Comparing those two engines is not even CLOSE. So if you think that's a reasonable comparison then I don't know what to think about your automotive knowledge.
Btw...this thread wasn't about your thinking I should've gotten a GM product (because it's obvious in your posts you don't like Ford...I have no clue why but you obviously have a Vendetta against them). This thread was showing my weekend car...nothing more.

Re: My twin turbo cobra
Ford does with 5 litres what chev cant with 6.2 ... Make the best, fastest new muscle car. 4.6's were great motors, I had 2 of them but the new 5 litre is sick.
First of all, 4 cylinders cannot be compared to 8's in any way except fuel economy. Anyone who says 4 cylinders can be made to be faster cars is retarted. Sure you may find a civic or something that runs 10 seconds and will beat a cobra but imagine driving that for a daily driver .. Try keeping that running. Heres a car that puts down almost 800 hp and I'm sure it would outlast any hopped up 4 banger ever.
I dont see where the base of this whole 4 cylinders are the fastest comes from .. its basic math. A 1.8 litre 4 cylinder will NEVER be faster then a 4.6 8 cylinder, if it is its simply because the 4 cylinder has $6000+ into the motor while the v8 is stock.
Second of all, I'm now a ford guy. I've seen too many shitty chev products and seen there poor business that I really dont like anything they make anymore. They dont have one vechicle that intrests me, the camaro is the mustangs bitch, the silverado isnt near as nice an f150 and you can buy fords for dirt cheap. The only thing i wish was that someone still offered a big v8 rear wheel drive sedan after 2011 ... The caprice cop car could suit tihat need.
Enough of my rant, ford took over the american market and 8 is always going to be double of 4. Your car is one of the sickest cars ive ever seen, enough said.

Re: My twin turbo cobra
Thanks man! And that's next on the list for sure! Haha vettes are definitely nice...but everytime I see them I think mid-life crisis....cuz there's a millionnnn out here...and they are alll mid-50s men.
It definitely has a good bottom end...but there are manyyy things about the car people don't know unless they don't own one. Check out the book "Iron fist, lead foot" to see what I mean...there's a tonnn of work that went into the Terminators. And the N/A LS1 was the competitor for the 03/04 cobra. For price and function the Terminator surpassed it...that's the typical "N/A vs. FI" argument. Take a guess when I had spent only $500 in mods on the car how many camaros asked me to race, telling me they would smoke my *** anyways and that my FI couldn't handle their **** because they had $3k in mods done. Guess how quickly they went to the "Oh well you have a supercharger" once I beat them, when 5 mins before they were telling me they would still demolish me even though I had a supercharger.
And that's that whole point....with the LS1's you have to BUILD it to handle boost...with my car it's already built to handle boost from the factory not to mention can easily handle over 800whp all day every day on the STOCK motor it came with. 2. I was referring more to the LS series in general. I should have been more specific. And if you compare a GT Mustang engine to a SS (both N/A), then the Chevy is just superior. Not to mention the wieght savings of the aluminum block. I have worked on and owned 2 4.6's and 2 351w's (rebuilt one of each) that's why I have a "vendetta" against them. The 351w is a superior engine to the 4.6 any day of the week.
3. I was basically saying that you cannot compare a N/A engine to a boosted one. So I guess we agree on that?
4. Yes it is easy to put a pulley on a "terminator" and get good HP gains for cheap. Much cheaper and easier than modding the N/A LS1.
5. This started off as a little friendly **** talking, and is turning into something else, lets just end it here.

And thank you very much for the props!
1. You were racing idiots. Glad you hear you found af few, out of the millions of em in the US.

1) Well typical attitude of GM owners out here in SoCal. Think their camaros and vettes are God's gift to man. So I guess there's a lot of idiots out there.
2) Comparing a 281 with a 351 is ridiculous as well. The added displacement alone makes the engine better...it says zero about how well that engine was built. And the reason I know that....oh yah because I build engines too! I had my engine built for the cobra because it's a pure racing company that I am sponsored by now because my car will be in MM&FF...so no need for me to have to worry especially since it's warrantied even with my modifications. Good assumptions there though.
3) Yes we agree on that. Ford is showing differently about N/A engines even with the new 11 GT though.
4) Glad we agree on this as well...shows things are much easier on my car.
5) Didn't seem too friendly to me as this was a thread showing the car, not asking for opinions on Ford vs. Chevy, but you had to bring it up for some reason. And it's ended. I have nothing more to say.

That's actually a really good job photo-shopping it. How do you guys do it lol. I suckkkk at photoshop. I could never trace those letters steadily.
SOLD! Hahaha that would be pretty awesome and hilarious.
Re: My twin turbo cobra
I just thought i'd add that a 4.6 is 281 cubic inches but a 5.7 (351 windsor) is 351 cubic inches. From a stock standpoint id choose the 4.6 but there expensive to build. You can get big power out of an old 351 windsor pretty easily.
Re: My twin turbo cobra
I really wasn't talking about power output or dispalacement. I was comparing quality, durablility and materials used. Besides, the 302w is almost the same engine as the 351w, just smaller displacement.
Re: My twin turbo cobra
So RET tuned the car today! One hiccup, we ran out of pump on the race gas tuned sadly....I have dual walbros with the return system...so looks like I'm gonna grab another pump and get a triple fuel hat within the next month or so, just so we can check out the peak numbers it will make.
Pump gas at 17lbs and 13* timing the car made 628whp/609wtq
Race gas at only 19lbs and 15* timing it made 716whp/696wtq
So as you can see if I was able to throw 24lbs of boost at it like we wanted to it would easily make over 800whp!
Oh well though....we will see what happens when I get the new pump and hat!
Also....one issue that is robbing me of more power is the fact that my DR's aren't getting traction on the dyno very well...as you can see in the picture down below. The boost was coming on so fast and so hard that multiple times it would just spin on the dyno...so the pump and race numbers would be higher. Even with two guys in the trunk the car was still spinning and shooting rubber. So once I have the new fuel hat and pump in I'm gonna throw on my other tires and have another go at it
We could have gone back and had the guys sit in the trunk for a re-do of the pump gas tune...but we were over it....I'm happy with the numbers haha.
Here's the graphs:

Alsooooo...in about 2 weeks some True Forged wheels will be going on :dancenana:

And lasttttlllyyyy....did a pull down in Mexico today
This was only at 11lbs of boost and a 3rd-4th girl pull with MAJOR granny shifting. As you can see and hear as well I lost traction in 3rd some (even at only 11lbs lol). I'll have a bunch more videos from outside the car and all kinds of other fun stuff too. Gotta love having wastegates that vent to atmosphere

Very very nice
A little sloppy on the shifting, but i guess it was hard to hold the camera and drive same time
On a side note:
I've been around hondas too much....
i was watching the dyno vid, and i was like "whys the tires not running?!"
then i went "oh, rwd...right" XD

I'd kill for a nice 351w set up in a maxed out fox body. Light *** little cars, sure there not the best handling but i know a built up 351 windsor could haul some serious *** and spin some tires off no problem.
Just curious, was there a lot of wiring to rig up with the new engine?

Re: My twin turbo cobra
Nothing like good ole american muscle. My buddy just bought an '88 stang LX convertible that he put a 5.0 conversion in. He brought it over and I was like "wow, that's in great shape but, you need some pony wheels." (for those of you unfamiliar with pony wheels: http://www.fordracingparts.com/image.../M1007N167.jpg He currently has these on it: http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:E...091825.jpg&t=1 ) Went inside, got on CL and bam! "here's a set for $75 and they only listed it two hours ago!" Called the guy up and he was like meet me at QT in 15 and we were there. Got there and it looked like every tuner and rod in the area was there. We were loading up the wheels and some dude with a sweet looking red 5th gen hatch came up and asked my buddy if he had seen what that thing can really do. My friend said no and this dude says "let's drag". My friend says"takes the wheels back out, I'm gonna show him what's up." I've stated before that I don't condone street racing but, what ya gonna do when you aren't driving and all these kids are all hopped up on speed (the fast kind not the drug, get your mind out of the gutter). This hatch had a B18 NA and I knew it was gonna be fast and told my friend so. He said not to worry and sure enough he pretty much blew the doors off that civic. Dude just couldn't believe that he didn't beat my buddy, not even on takeoff. lol.
My buddy spent $1000 for the roller and $550 for the complete conversion (everything in the engine bay, tranny, exhaust, harness, and PCM). It has a nice straight, shiny black paint job and all the amenities (A/C, heat, radio, power everything including the ragtop, and leather seats) for $1550 and a days work!
I know that guy with the hatch had to have spent more than $1500. Nothing on his car was stock- racing seat (notice I said seat not seats), lights, mirrors, wheels, suspension, engine- nothing. I mean, all he had on the inside was a roll cage, racing seat, and gauges.
Must be a tough pill to swallow to be beat by some "ragged out" mustang from the '80s. Just goes to show there is always someone faster. lol. Wow, what a Thanksgiving.
