F20 v.s. K20

hello, i have a very burning question that might save me money on engines. im looking to buy a new engine for my civic and i need to know about the K20a2 versus the F20c. which is better and worth the money for track racing??? i know that the F20c (S2000) has around 240 horses but i've been hearing that bolt on parts wont raise horsepower at all. is that a lie? i've seen in simulations that they raise them substantially but i still would like a mechanic's opinion. now the K20a2 has only 200 or so but its said to respond to bolt ons quite well! for me, i've found both engines cheap and the F20 is cheaper than the K. so i need to know, please clarify anything i missed and dont be skimpy in the answer. i would love a technical answer thanks again! my email address is eccentric_running_incubus@hotmail.com. respond to the address if you want too.

Re: F20 v.s. K20

If you have a 01-05 the K20 fits in the engine bay like a stock engine and you can draw a lot of power from that engine im not sure about the F20 The k20 also has the iVtec (cant go wrong with the K20)
i dont have one but im saving up for the k20a the jdm honda integra (dc5) engine 220hp

Re: F20 v.s. K20

thats what i was thinking but im still trying to find out the better one! see, im pretty biased to the F20c because well lets just face it i found one cheaper than the K and i like to race at high rpms. i need to be convinced out of it or just know the better motor for track racing. idk if any of this is redundant but if it is i apologize lol

Re: F20 v.s. K20

um the s2k is RWD so you may think its cheaper to get the f20 but wait till the fabrication comes into play. You might as well just pick up an s2k it would prob be cheaper

any k transmission will bolt up to the f20 if you guys didnt know. just not sure what youre going to do about motor mounts. prolly some rewiring involved. i would love to see it done.

Re: F20 v.s. K20

^^ serious....k20 is the way to go cuz they have everything you need to get it working easily...very easily...compared to a f20 swap which is pointless because everything would have to be custom...even the intake manifold because it takes air in the opposite side of the way the k motor would sit in the engine bay...

Re: F20 v.s. K20

wrong forum to talk about kswaps man. Go on k20a.org and read up. Don't need to ask a bunch of questions when most of them have been asnwered on that forum. There's a lot of info in that forum on all sort of k swaps in different chasis. I suggest you start there.

what does the F20 being in a RWD car stock have anything to do with swapping the motor to our cars? nothing.

the stock 6 speed tranny will bolt up to the f20 with an adapter plate, it will NOT bolt straight up.

the adapter plate is kind of like the karcepts adapter that ppl use to put on a stock type s throttle body on the RBC intake manifold.

You're right on the fabrication of the motor mounts though and all the other custom work that has to be done. A custom header and intake would have to be made for the car also.

yes, if i were to do the swap again, i would go k24 or a frank swap.

I did the k20 swap when the k24 wasn't as common as it is today. high revving motor is nice, but lacks so much torque.

Re: F20 v.s. K20

in the F20 would a multi throttle intake take up too much room? and thanks for the site D5cIvIc
and with a k24a2, how well does it respond to bolt-ons? no torque is no problem im not gonna street race or drag with it (track car). but just in case would a supercharger be out of the question??

The B18CR is a GSR engine that they had in the acura integra gsr its a good engine but u cant get as much stock hp out of it.Its better for the older civics but for a EM2 the perfect engine is the K20 cause it fits like a stock engine and you can squeeze a lot of power out of it.

Re: F20 v.s. K20

f20c is longitually mounted and the k20 is transversally mounted. thats the big difference here. but go with the f20c and let us know how it goes.
