to people that keep saying "slam it!"

so i guess everyone wants to slam their car or something....

here is the deal, since my car isn't lowerered, i've avoided 3 roadkills so far from scraping the underside of my car. how are you going to avoid the deadmeat on the road from splattering rotten bloody guts all over your undercaratige(sp.)?

Hey,

You can always slam your brakes, put the vic in park, walk out, pic up the dead carcass and bring it home for dinner.

i agree with Voiceofid:
reason being is that IMO, dropping or "slamming" a car is a total pain in the since you have to avoid speedbumps, be careful on ANY change of elevation on the road, and most of all, avoiding roadkill. just the thought of any dead animal touching any part of my car makes me wanna
slamming cars looks nice, but it's not worth it. if i were to drop my car, it would be for the sole purpose of stiffening (sp) my suspension.

I usually go around it. If it's late at night, you can go in the other lane because nobody's on the road, and if it's during the day, you can see it in time to slow down. I didn't go over a speed bump for about 6 months after I dropped my car, but now I'm learning to creep over them without scraping at all. I'm a very cautious and alert driver so I don't drive like a bat out a hell!!! Once you slam your car, it's like driving a totally different vehicle, you just have to get used to it and know your limits. No more taking inclines at 40mph!! lol I've had my car slammed for almost a year, and I hit my first animal a few weeks ago....I hit a skunk and it broke a street glow tube!!!

Hell yeah, bubba!!!! Thats good eatin'!!!

But for real, you don't have to straddle every dead carcass you see. It is possible to just swerve around it instead. There's a way around everything (even speedbumps), you just have to look sometimes.

At first I thought of an air ride suspension, but now I'm leaning more and more towards coilovers and aftermarket struts. I'll have to take all of the prices into consideration, but it'll be about $950 - $1200 more for an air ride suspension. I don't know if I have that kind of cash. I might just drop it an inch or so and a little more in back. I think that'll look nice and it should lift my front up a little since the back will be lowered more than the front. The overall effect should be negligable. Oh yeah, on top of that I'll get oversized tires. That should bring me up a little bit too. Overall I think the drop in front will be less than a half inch for me.

put yourself into their senario...

driving down a long stretch of road at 40mph heading toward school. it's a 2 lane street. suddenly, you notice a dead animal (so multilated that you can't tell what it is, and it's bloody and crap) you try and slow down. the lane next to you is occupied by a huge suv, and a viperis tailing closely to your bumper. what are you going to do?

i wanna see responds from people with slamed rides and with out.

since my car isn't lowered, i readjusted my heading,a nd the animal went under my car like a breeze, leaving some blood stains on the yellow corvette behind me(which is what i exactly did)

Since most of the roads I drive on have wide lanes and shoulders, And my car isn't that big, I can usually go around it without going in the other lane or off the road. Most of the 2 lane roads that would have road kill on them (in the country) are not that busy so you can go in the other lanes. It's not rocket science!!!! But yeah, I guess if I were ever stuck on a busy two lane road with no shoulder and a dead animal right in the middle of the road, I would either be holding up traffic or going home to wash my car! Even without the drop it took me a while to get used to the height of the civic. I used to drive a 4-runner that had atleast a foot of ground clearance at the lowest point. (bottom of the axles) I used to love driving over something big in the middle of the road and watching the little cars behind me swerve out of the way after it came out from under my truck!!! I know, I'm a bad person!!

Well, I am dropping my vic 1in with the prokits. I decided on a small drop because of my previous experience with an accord that was dropped 2inchs. Speed bumps and potholes become nightmares. The ride is terrible and you will began to hear the body creaking and stuff when entering driveways and any place where the front wheels are elevated more the rear and vice versa. The suspension can no longer compensate for the differences in the elevation at each corner so the body and frame must absorb the stress. It accelerates rattles and general wear and tear on the cars body and frame. The ony advantage I see in a big drop is looks and the feeling of the way the car handles which isn't necessarily any better than a moderately lowered car.
