Civic coupe 2001 racing against Accord 2002 V6

I've just raced against an Accord V6 2002... and we were both side to side. I'm just happy ...that's it

By the way, I don't have an EX but a DX

I had a 00 v6 accord and it is possible that you may have stayed with him for a little bit. Once you get to about 50mph to around 60 or so, you can floor it and it just won't go. It won't downshift for some reason. But below or above that and it would waste you.

I've just raced against my friend tonight. This time we were both with our girlfriends... and the same thing happened! He told me: What did you put in your DX man. I'm not able to pass you with my V6 even though I have the foot down the carpet!!! In my Civic DX, the only things that might improve the performance is a racing muffler and my racing air intake! Nothing else. I told him that maybe the theory of hi RPM in the first 2000 kms could have been improved the performance of my car, or at least optimated it. Maybe this theory is not that weird! I've had two Accords before I got my Civc and my Accords definately seemed like they were faster. I had a '92 2.2L EX and a '95 2.7L V6 (which my brother now has). They both seemed to go faster, but me and my brother were goofing around a few weeks ago and he was a little bit ahead of me (not by much) up until about 70mph which is where we both quit. My Accords either seemed faster than it really was or my Civic seems slower than it really is, but they seem to be pretty neck and neck as far as performance.

I Think the accord is faster than civic for sure, but both cars can go 100 - 110 mph easy, on side streets or the freeway its all how fast you are willing to go and when to back off, but on the track accord will beat the civic. Just drive safely ........... at least once in a while

I know that V6 Accord is supposed to be faster than my 2k1 DX Coupe but believe me or not, what I said above really happened and not one but two times. I have no interest to lie here. I opened this topic just because I was so surprised of this race, and to say to everyone here the potential of our cars. It's fun to share my joy with all of you. I will certainly race with my friend one day from 0 to 60 mph. I will tell you the results of the race in the futur. For the moment, all I know is that my 2k1 DX is side to side with a V6 Accord from 50 to 85 mph. That's it, that's all!

what kevin? Are we THAT much faster than the four banger accords??? I dont think so, i think that is more our cup of tea though!
If we lose that it wont be a BAD loss, like it will be against the v6 accord.

If you would have actually read my post, I made comments about a '92 2.2L Accord EX and a '95 2.7L V6. Not the new 3.0L that they are putting in accords nor the 2.3L L4 motor.

The '92 Accord 4-cyl had a 0-60mph time of 9.8secs and a 1/4 of 17.4
The '95 Accord V6 2.7L had a 0-60 of 9.0secs and a 1/4 of 16.8

The new 3.0L V6 has a 0-60 of 7.8secs and a 1/4 mile of 15.8 a good 3/4 to a full second faster.
And the new 2.3L Accords are 150hp and have a 0-60 of 9.1 and a 1/4mile of 16.9. (tops out at 115mph, govener?)

With the exception of the 3.0L Accords, We have people on this forum posting times better than that in their civics.

Now these figures are debatable, depending on who you talk to and where you get the information the numbers will vary.
But the point is most Accords are not necessarily fasterl. And I stand by my previous post that the 2.7L V6 is camparable in performance to the 7th generation civics.

Like I said, having owned a 00 ex-vl for a year and a half, I know that it would take the vic. I am not saying it would tear up like a viper but would take it for sure. I raced many people in that car and a vic wouldn't be much of a match. Once that v6 hits second, it flies. And it keeps flying when it hits 3rd. The vic would keep up no prob in 1st, but after that it would be over. The v6 is fast but not that fast. I loved the torgue and raw power of that motor. I have to say it was an awesome performing motor and it looked awesome when you popped the hood to show friends.

I just have a comment, sometimes its not the car´s power that matters but how good the driver is at knowing how to drive the car. Even the automatics, if you know how to push the engine the tranny will shift at your will. Just as in the civic, the accords need to rev high to actually go fast, so if the guy who´s driving the V6 does not push the engine far enough, of course a 110hp civic will beat it.

Of course, from the start (cero) the civic has the weight advantage, but just let the torque in the v6 kick in and kiss the accords ***. I have raced accords and driven a lot a 4 cyl EX and the 4cyl is as fast as my civic EX (auto), so I bet a good driver in a v6 will kick my *** so bad.

In mexico we say the fastest car is a vw beetle (not the new one), it is so light that it beats many cars starting out from cero (they have like 40hp). Of course, as soon as any other car revs past 3000 the beetle is dead.

Sorry, civics are neither fast neither slow compared to their 4 cyl rivals, but as far as 6 cyls go, an Odissey beat the hell out of me the other day

A 2k1 civic Ex should have no problem beating I-4 cylinder Accord.
