what do you guys think?

Buy an older car with lower mileage or a newer car with higher mileage?

When you see a 1990 car with 30k miles on it, good deal or bad?

Re: what do you guys think?

i rather go with lower mileage but nothing too low that sound a little fishy.
I bought my car at 48,000 miles and whenever i tell people i spent 10,000 on an 01, they always bitch and moan about how i got ripped off... but they don't know me! or especially the prices or how many miles my car has.
so i tell them to suck it.

in 05 i spent 11.8 on an 01 lx 4d, so that really isnt bad since mine had 75k on it when i bought mine, but hondas are usually good no matter what, they run forever, and put up with some **** too

Re: what do you guys think?

1990 car with 30k miles ? They probably lowered the miles. It is possible to manually lower the odometer miles on older cars but it's obviously illegal. I would believe a 1990 car would have 30k miles if it were a Ferrari and any other specially garage kept car.

Miles shouldn't be an issue if the car was built in 1990. It's about how well the car was maintained. Or.... probably the car has a brand new motor and he put 30k miles On the New Motor. Who knows?

What model?

Anyway, thx guys. SO everyone is basically saying that if it's an older car with low mileage I should take extra care to have it looked over by a mechanic.

Re: what do you guys think?

^^ yes. Look at it yourself too. 30k miles and its biggest problem should be a thick layer of dust. Engine especially- ask if it was worked on, rebuilt, or replaced. Get a car fax of the vin. Make sure the vin in the windshield matches the vin on the engine. If it doesnt, walk away.

Also you wanna know what kinda miles it was... 30k in the city could be like 80k on the highway. or 30k on the highway could be like 5k in the city... it all depends.

Look at where the motor mounts are, and the bolts where the transmission goes to the engine- do they look like they've been taken off- if so, and he said the engine hadnt been worked on, abort.

Thx for the heads up. I didn't know about the vin... Just did some quick research on that and the carfax report. I'm not going to be taking apart any engines anytime soon though. I'm a big noob when it comes to cars.
