For turbo freaks...

Ok guy I was trying to read the most recent turbo thread but u guys got to technical for me, and finally I was lost. My Question is: I found a turbo from 1988 Mazda 626 with intercooler. The guy at the junkyard says 150 it is yours - I take it out myself -. So My Q is is it worth it? I know I will have to probably rebuild a turbo a little, and I will need a custom manifold that would fit. And I think total price would be much less then 4000. So is it doable?? Is it worth it? Besides for 150?? a full turbo with intercooler?? I think I will just get it to play around with it. Let me know guys. Peace out

SOHC - LOL!!!!

intercooler won't work without some serious mods. Turbo will need a rebuild if it has been sitting, especially if used, the piping won't work, and the only true part you could salvage would be the turbo. If want, I can check to see what size it is so you even know if it will work properly with our car (not blow it up with to much sustained boost even at its lowest setting)

Why won't the inter work? U saying piping means all the ruber hses right? I assumed I will need to change them. Hmm but it sounds so tempting fto 150 !!

626 is a large car. I made that statement as an educated guess on the fact that since it is larger, there won't be as much room in our bay (duh) as their's. Check Ebay for a used T25, they go for around 100, or new for about 225. Better to get a good conditioned used one (no cracks, etc.) and just rebuild it because if the turbo has been sitting around for awhile the seals are more than likely cracked, swollen, dried, etc.

this has already been said but i wouldn't get the turbo either. it costs too much for a turbo that you don't know the condition of. the only thing i would take is the intercooler and i wouldn't give him more than 30bucks.

T25 can be had on the 2nd gen Eclipses. 1st gens come with a 14B, which can be used also, but better off to get something a little more universal.

Fly- Ment to ask you at the meet, what's up with that red ball?
