Frankenstein K swap

So I was reading xproductions DIY post on swapping the K engine in the Civic and saw he said something about the K20 head and K24 block made for being a reving machine blah blah blah. So I was thinking about doing this swap but since I saw that I was wondering if that swap isn't a good thing to do if I wanted to turbo it. So should I stick with the plan old K20 type s swap for turbo or am I still good with the K20 and K24?

that all depends up to you.. where do you want your power.. do you want it up top.. or more low... do you want high revving.. or do you want lots of torque... heres an example..

customers car running a custom kit at 12psi on a stock k20a2
369.62hp and 228.96 torque revving up to 8600rpm

same car and same kit but with a k20/k24 block.. running 12psi
463.28hp and 360.71 torque revving up to 7600rpm

k20 motor made its power towrds the top end
k20/k24 setup made it more earlier in the powerband

Thanks, I think Im gonna go with the K20/K24 and turbo setup from what you just told me. I like power earlier as far as alot of racing goes thats mainly what you need. It's no use if you don't get it tell the end of the track

If ur real interrested i have the diy article on how to make a k20/k24 hybrid engine from sport compact car. Its not very difficult, same as any other head swap. The only thing it said to watch out for was to make sure the k24 block will fit in ur car cuz it doesnt fit in an EK

ok i also read that the k20/k24 is very much like the k24a2 found in the tsx. Actually its almost the exact same engine. The only difference is in the tuning. The k20/24 hybrid has a slightly lower compression which is good for foced induction.

you need to do alot more reading than this..
"Actually its almost the exact same engine. The only difference is in the tuning."
1. the tsx head doesnt flow as well as a type s head...
2. it has different cams

thats why you still see people doing the head swap regardless...

you also need to learn more before you tell someone the wrong thing.. you said:
"Its not very difficult, same as any other head swap."

If someone folowed that advice and slapped on a k20 head onto a k24a4 (crv) and started it right up... guess who is gonna have a few bent valves and valves pushed into the head and damaged pistons.. the person that took the advice you said...

here is a fact. the k24 from a TSX is the only block that will accept a straight forward k20 head with no modification. the k24 from the ELEMENT, CRV and ACCORD will all have piston to valve (PTV) contact.. theres been some debate if the accord will accept a straight swap.. but why take the risk.. you need to swap out the pistons and rods either from a tsx OR get some aftermaket ones..

theres more to it and i could go on and on... but start somewhere and get more info

I think neither are suitable for daily driving. Anything over 250fwhp isn’t daily-able in my opinion. Better to build a track car on the side or just not do it at all if building your daily is the only option.
