I got my key blade today, now I just have to have it cut and put into a switchblade mechanism. The local cutters couldn't cut my style key since it's not actually jagged, it's just grooved so I'm going to see if the dealership can cut it for me. The saga continues.

I was going to go to the dealership and see if I can get it done there and how much green it would take for persuasion if they don't want to. But I got super sick, almost called in sick to work. So I'll try and do it tomorrow and let you know what I find out. Otherwise I might have to get a machine shop to do it, it'll probably be the first time they've cut a key before. Last resort is a file and lots of time in front of the TV.
*UPDATE*
The dealership wouldn't put the blade into their machine as they're worried it might damage the machine. But they referred me to a local locksmith that laser cuts keys and said they can do it.

Sorry, girlfriend's coming over tonight, I'll check out the locksmith tomorrow at 16:30 MST. I'll post within 2 hours of that unless she drags me out again. I'm also building a full carputer so that takes up a lot of my time too.

I went to the locksmith and he said he wasn't supposed to be doing it but he took it in the back room and tried it anyway. And he was cutting it perfect until the machine lost its grip and it shifted by a millimeter so he took it out to inspect it and noticed what I'd noticed when I got it. If you look closely, you'll see it's not a perfect block of metal, it's shifted to one side a little so there's a ridge on the side and the machine can't get a good hold on it. And when it cuts it, the cut would be shifted on top and bottom. So if I can find a blade for another model that's not like this, I'm in.
