Let it be known that the max rev is at 5200 or so. Due to the fact when I tried to cut down my run time covering a 7 mile road with numerous corners, I noticed that when I was in 3rd gear, I was hitting only about 85 and the RPM was hitting at 5000-5200 (Gas pedal was touching the floor) and it was bouncing. Note that I was going downhill at a ridiculous pace, hitting a corner without crossing the center divider while using techniques to prevent the understeer. As I made it on the driveway of the house, I decided to put it in neutral and floor the gas pedal to see its max RPM, again "5200".
I covered that 7 mile road in 4 minutes, I manage to cut it down by a minute from the last run, usually its on the average I cover it in 10 minutes if I'm just driving normally but if I go into that "I don't give a rats *** if I die" attitude, I make it 5 to 6 minutes faster.
MAX REV...5200!!!!

My car's rev limiter kicks in around 5000 RPM when my cars moving below 20MPH of speed. But when it's above that I can hit 7000 RPM... Hmm... that's interesting...
I didn't know DX/VP's limiter kicked in that early...
By the way, I thought DX/VPs didn't come with tachometer?

yeah, somethings wrong with the tach you are using if it's an aftermarket one. the redline on the DX/VP/EX is 6700 or so, and the rev limiter doesn't come in till about 6900-7000. if its an aftermarket tach, check to see if it's set on 6, or 8 cylinder mode.
i have an lx which should be the same as a dx and i can hit 7,100 before my rev limiter kicks in. its probably 7k but my cluster tach shows 7,100. i dont think any honda has a rev limiter at 5200. most domestics have a redline of 6k some at 5,500 but most are around 6k.
I have a 02 dx and an autometer tach set to the 4cyl setting and my rev limiter kicks in at 6700-6900. (when you are revving that high its hard to tell) so it must be set to 6 cyl or 8 cyl mode.

Ok, I think I solved the problem. As one of you had said, it could be the aftermarket tach that I have. I noticed that when I tried to give it another test run, I manage to go past and hit up to about 6k in 2nd. But the funny thing is, why is it stopping me from revving even higher than 5200 RPM when I had the gear in neutral? Is it because I have my tach sitting crocksided or is it because of all of the aftermarket parts I have on? So confusing!!!
Last time I had this much fun some furniture got broken!

my 01 lx will go to 6800 usually but if I have it in 2 or D3 i can take it to the real redline of about 7100 before it bounces off
