Towing a trailer

I have a 03 civic ex with a 5spd. Was wondering if I could safely tow a rather light 4x8 trailer w/ a sportbike on it without screwing my car up? have any of you one this? Thanks.

check your specs in your owners manual. It will tell you how much towing capacity you have.

I dont think towing a trailer for bike is as harsh as towing a 12 foot boat. And if a my dad's old 89 corolla could do that, I dont see how a civic cant.

Towing capacity on our cars is something like 800lbs. I'm almost certain on this #. The 800 pounds would include you the driver and any passangers in addition to the trailer. If you have subs and stuff then that would also go towards the 800lbs.

that's right, the amout of weight a car can carry isn't necessarily the same as the towing capacity. Usually the towing capacity is higher.
I agree with Graphicdude, check your manual.

its 800 lbs worth of towing stuff, but defintely make the car as light as possible. You, no one else, and as little crap as you can. Your transmission will hate you, and remember the car has no trailer brake control.... so avoid steep downhills and remember how hard it is to climb hills without a trailer, multiply by a billion.

the clutch will wear out sooner. up hills or down hills, doesn't really make a difference. same thing as carrying 4 fat ***'s in the car. i was crusing on the freeway at 80 with no problem
