The Multi-Displacement System deactivates cylinders that are not needed at cerain times. It works like Mercedes-Benz's Active Cylinder Control, General Motors' Displacement on Demand, and Honda's Variable Cylinder Management, it deactivates one bank of the V8's cylinders when the throttle is closed.
