Test drove my buddy's 06 STi today..
So my buddy purchased a STi last month and today we finally swapped cars. All he had to say about the S was that the clutch was soft and the gearbox was smooth.
Now to the STi.... HOLY SH*T guys. He has since racked up 4100 miles so no harm should be done to the car at this point. Sitting in the driver's seat is a totatlly different experience than being a passenger. Even though it feels like your torso gains a few inches the seat positioning is quite nice. The scoop doesn't obstruct vision much but you can't see sh*t out of the rear due to the spoiler. The DCCD was set to auto which has a torque split of 59/41 ( 04-05 had 65/35). The clutch in the S and other Hondas is soft as usual but this one is kinda tricky but not hard to engage at any speed.
The ride was pleasent and the car didn't give up much to road bumps. No need to take it over 3k during daily driving. I was driving at around 20mph in 2nd when he told me to get a little throttle happy.. so I gradually floor it and as you take the car just over 3k the car just explodes. I'm not BS'ing but the front of the car literally lifts up. It gave me a harsh thud in my stomach. Now I know what astrounauts feel like as I was feeling G force all in my neck. My head would snap back everytime I would gradually floor it at ANY rpm. The seats are grippy and the bolsters give great lateral support. The car took corners pretty well but was always catching up due to understeer
He let me mess with the DCCD and we put it to full rear (pushed furthest back towards the back seat). I was trying to make the rear break out but IMO the car handles a whole lot better when set closest to RWD. Anytime you flirt with going over 3k the car takes off like a rocket and would always appear the raise the front of the car. I was honestly frightening because the car as such RAW acceleration. The gearbox and chassis were just as RAW as the engine.
I know the STi may not be for everyone, but I definently want one. The car is so much fun to drive. I'd rather tackle the twisties anyday than burn rubber all the time, but the STi is the complete package with praticalitiy and speed. Sign me up

Whats the old autocross adage with those cars, you start to understear hit the gas, you start to overstear, hit the gas. LOL. They are nice cars though.
