I say evo because its a little more neutral around the corners and it looks better. The sti tends to overseer a little more.
But you do get more bang for your buck with the sti but it just looks ugly and the interior of the sti is better too.
For me, there is no point in having a 32k car thats fast as hell and i think looks like ****. For 32k you should get a car thats fast and you think looks good.

Titanium Metallic. You got a problem with that?

The tranny in the STi is worth its weight in gold. It take tons of abuse and still be fine. The tranny in the WRX however is a different story. All it takes is one mis-shift and the synchros are forever warped. Ask a Subaru tech. The WRX also has less potential because its a 2.0L and the STi is a 2.5L.
Granted, you can produce more WHP and WTQ for less money if you start out with a WRX (VF39, Uppipe, TBE, Ecutek, STi TMIC/Perrin FMIC) but the tranny can only sustain about 370FWHP. And you dont have as many diffs, the HIDs, suspension, etc.
To be fair to the Evo, its a beautiful looking car, especially compared to the 06 Subaru WRX/STi, but Mitsubishi reliability isn't the greatest historically, and the financial problems they have been in lately bring down the yellow flag and toss up the red flag.
The new 2008 Subaru WRX/STi's will be interesting since they will be based off of the new Legacy platform. Also, there is a supposed Legacy STi that is being tested right now (already out in Australia) for US release.

I kind of always thought/felt there was a Legacy Sti, Legacy B4. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe I read on a Subaru forum that the WRX tranny design was from 1981 for a NA Subaru.
i wasnt a fan of both until I saw an 06 sti the other day. i know it looks ugly as f**k on the net and in pictures, but in person its actually quite nice. If i were to choose between the two id go with the sti, because it looks PIMPin aggresively nice.
