Question about clutch in 2K2 EX...

I've been driving the new EX all weekend. The clutch engagement feels a little wierd at the end of it's travel in that is always "pops" instead of releasing as smoothly as I would expect. Is this just the feel of a new Civic clutch as opposed to one that's got a few thousand miles on it? I've only put 170+ miles on the car so far and haven't taken it over 3.5K yet. It's no fun when you can't hit VTEC in an engine that doesn't even begin purring until 5K.

Damn, I miss my CL-S already. This is going to be a long five months.

Normal for a clutch. You will eventually feel it loosen. The fingers are real tight and that is what is causing the popping. Nothing to worry about.

Yeah, your new car is just breaking in. The break-in period for the car ends at 600 miles.

Thanks! This is only the second stick we've owned so I don't really have a good benchmark for testing what's normal.

Thanks. I honestly didn't know where it engaged. On the CL-S it engages at 3800 and when the IRMC opens the plenum at 4800, look out! I'm sure the Civic will be a lot more fun (as much fun as 127HP can be) once I get through the break-in period.
