Let's admit it ppl.........

our car is not the fastest on the street. it certainly moves as quick as we need to go sometime, but there are always those times where you just want floor it and see that cocky V8 punk crying. So..my point is, what is stopping us from getting a smaller faster car that still looks good, but goes hella fast?

ive been researching this whole crvtec/6th gen hatchback thing for a while now(which is why ive been gone so long from this forum) and found out that i can eat V8 for lunch and still look good. so why do i have this feeling that if i sell my 2k1, i'll regret it?

i would appreciate all your input on this matter. thanks ppl.

Your not going to regret it. If your going to do it, do it, don't get ppl riled up on this board over it, specially the ricers who think the D block can eat anything alive.

Personally, I can see the flames coming now

if that's truly the way you feel and you are looking for more speed...
I don't think you'll regret it.
Everybody around town here is selling their car and getting a hatch.
My friend sold his '00 Si and bought a hatch back. It's not much now, but it'll be sweet after the gsr swap he has planned.
I don't think I'd sell or trade my 2k1 for a hatchback, but I sure will buy one as a project car when I get out of college.

For every fast cat, there is a car that is faster....want the fastest car, then fork out $400,000 and get a Vector.
But seriously, our cars can be just as fast as the previous generations of Civics......just not while they are still under warranty
But sell your car if you want to.....it's whatever you want to do bro !!

Nothing is stopping people from getting a faster car. It certainly isn't stopping me from getting a Type R Integra.

Yeah, anyone who thinks the D block is capable of real speed (now) has no idea of what fast means. They couldn't possibly back up what they say.

I love my Civic to death but I'm bright enough to know it's limitations. In terms of performance, there's not MUCH you can do unless:

a) You're a mechanical genius.
b) You're rich.
c) You're both.

There ain't nothing wrong wanting a faster car, it's just those who expected the car to be fast and got *slow* is where all the BS comes in.

IT'S JUST A CIVIC!

why does everybody think that they aren't as fast as the previous gen of civics? because they are, stock vs. stock they're faster, excluding anything with a bseries engine. but our D block is better than the old D16Y6 (i think that's it).

If you wanted something fast, you definately bought the wrong car. I think it is fast enough to be fun with the 5spd, but definately wouldn't even think about racing someone except for maybe a suzuki swift or something. I bought my car because

1. its a honda (isn't that enough)
2. Looks good
3. liked the interior
4. Price
5. So many aftermarket options
6. Gas mileage
7. Resale value

Lastly, hei will make it a little faster, but more importantly, a lot funner to drive.

However, if you want something faster, go for it. In the civic price range, the sentra spec v is probably the fastest car at 17,500 msrp. I almost bought one, but after owning 3 hondas, and having such good experiences, I couldn't bring myself to buy a nissan.

Ey I see your point. The Civic is good but personally (and many people will disagree with this) I'm not into heavily modifying my car. I mean making it look a better, a bolt on a bolt on there but there's many downsides to modifying besides the warranty. One is selling the car again. Another is the life of the engine. Some of these engines weren't designed to handle that much power. So see my sig for what I'm very interested in at the moment.

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY.
I think I speak for most of us.
Some of us aren't as fortunate as others in terms of wealth.
I just can't believe you had to ask us for an answer to that question. We might as well split this forum into social classes so the rich can talk about engine swaps and the poor can talk about DIYs.
I'm sorry, I dont mean to start anything. It's just that your question seems like something some rich spoiled person would ask because they dont realize not everyone has as much money as that person does.
If im wrong, please correct me, as I am willing to admit my mistakes.

OT here but yeah I saw the regular SL 500 at the auto show. It was nice to say the least. However the SL55 AMG is going to be the fastest production Benz. At least they make their cars fast now.

I dont know, but i still think that if you dont like the car, then why did you buy it? I love my civic. It was in my price range. Its cool looking and its a long lasting car. Plus there is so much i can do with it. But if you want another car, then get one. If i had the money i would.

<< Does anyone know what the fu ck is up with the Civic Type R engine, and if it will fit ???? >>

It will fit, but with some modifications. If you read Htown's swap news, he told us that the block drops right in and mounts perfectly in our engine bay. He was referring to a Type S motor, but the Type R and the Type S are the same size since they are both K20A motors. However, HTown said the guys at the shop he took his car to said they were going to have to relocate many accessories and they weren't prepared to do that. They basically chickened out. It's a shame because a swap like that would have put them on the map in the sport compact/import scene...

I'll tell you right now that I didnt shop around much. I looked at the civic, the focus, and the celica online, but I only drove the 5 speed focus hb and the civic auto, that I have. I think it was the fact that I wanted the car at that moment. I wanted to drive off the lot right then. I ended up driving the celica 4 days later, and I regretted my "I want it today" attitude. If I could turn back time, I would have gotten a red or blue gts 6 speed. I love my civic, but I just wish I would have thought it out more. Oh well, shame on me. Now, If I could get a new car, It would be a gunmetal '02 IS300 5 speed.

if the 99-00 hatch is too expensive why dont you try and get a 96-98 hatch and do a 99-00 front end conversion. Dosnt cost that much around here. Who cares about mileage - doing a swap the milage on the POS engine it comes with aint gonna matter anyway.

I love my little SOHC 4 banger. My previous car was a 1.6L DOHC Sentra auto (not the SE-R) and it had torque, but I couldn't rev it passed 4500 rpm if my life depended on it... I once got it to 5000 rpm where the peak horsepower of 110 is. With a manual EX, I can rev it to 6000 at will and just plain have fun... I'm not used to high HP cars, so I'll do the best I can with this car and when I'm ready, go for a car with more HP so I know how to handle it because I have previous experience with my Civic.

Yeah I don't race but I like the looks of the car and just spend money on looks. I am so tired of driving for less than 5 min and have some punk next to me speeding up and slowing down to race. I am glad my system is so loud so I don't have to here him.

Ya know, I don't know why people complain so much. Getting a Civic will be like getting a friggin' Porsche compared to my Sunbird. My Sunbird is like 90 HP, compared to the Civic EX's 127. The Civic handles at least three times as well as my Sunbird...could be because my Sunbird had been dropped a couple of inches before I bought it and it has blown struts up front...but that's a different story. Also, I've heard about people getting their Civics to 135 stock. Now, I don't know if that's true or not, but my Sunbird topped out at 90 MPH. I had the gas to the floor, and I was going down hill, and the speedo just stood still at 90 the entire way down the hill. I personally can't wait to get my Civic!!
