The C230 is more or less the cheapest Benz ever made, it was their attempt to break into the upper-end youth market. You can imagine why such a cheap (and ugly IMHO) car would have so many problems. Its not even really a Mercedes, just the same way that a 318 BMW isn't really a BMW...

yea they are... just b/c they are on the low end of the spectrum doesnt mean they arent a BMW... whats the lowest on the Honda lineup?

btw, BMW is a solid built car. No issues from a couple of my friends who own them. only thing that is annoying is the interior. its put together poorly. my friends 04 330CI SMG and 04 SMG II M3 has issues with their interior but nothing else. besides, BMW is dubbed the "Ultimate Driving Machine"

The fit and finish of the car was great it was all the electrical nannies constantly going berserk. They had the same problems on alot of CLK's,SLK's E series. 50000.00 isn't to cheap there dude.

Ask anyone who drives anything higher than a 318 or any BMW mechanic who saw innumerable 318s in the shop if they consider them real BMWs and the answer will always come back a resounding 'no'. Who cares what the lowest car on the Honda line-up is, Honda is a company that made its name selling mass-produced, quality economy cars, not luxury cars or high performance machines.

It was the cheapest car in their line up, the bargain basement Benz for all the kiddies to drive. Featuring one of the weakest engines in the line-up, the ugliest looks and a hatchback, which on a Mercedes is essentially the equivalent of vinyl seats in a Rolls Royce.

And I don't know what you're smoking, but 50 grand? The C32 AMG that year barely broke 50 grand. The C230 'Sports Coupe' (read: hatchback) went for $24,950 MSRP, here look for yourself: http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/Sp...IP&tab=2&sub=0

Hey, ********, so am I, except I don't know where you're from because you didn't go to the trouble to fill out your location.

24950 USD now = $29054 USD, exchange rate a few years ago wasn't so great so say $35k CDN is what? still under $40k w. tax? still not $50k? We're not talking about AMGs are we, we're talking about bargain basement C230s that think go at a premium because they weren't made in Mexico but yet still had issues. Thanks for playing. You learn math now yes?

When i said asshat I was joking with you so don't get your pink panties in a bunch.
Were talking a loaded c230.Base was 36500. in 03. Who is going to buy a benz with nothing on it.There is about 15000 in options on that car. You are not walking out of a benz dealer for under 40000 tax in even on a base one. maybe about 44000 once freight and air tax and that crap is in there. You can't use the exchange rate form us to canadian either cause it don't apply to cars . Looks like the states this year don't have the coupe. So lets say c230 sport sedan is 29975us. Canadian c230 sport sedan is 44380.00 thats like a 43% difference in currency. Just like the new Civic Si base is 20540.00 . Canadian is 27205.00 and Honda is one of the closest to the difference from Us to Canadian. I buy a brand new car almost every year and i wish it was just the difference in currency but is not.I don't know why, but it is. By the way your 35000. + tax comes to 40250. so it is OVER 40 k. So there is a math lesson for you.

Nay to the Crossfire... Yay to the Bimmer. 330CI's are nice rides and hold up their value (at least in California) pretty well.

But still 10k short of the $50k you quoted? What are all these magical options you're talking about, the only options that year were HIDs, nav., heated seats and a sunroof, plus other little bits and pieces here and there. Nonetheless, those bits don't contribute to the total quality of the car, 9/10 options on a Benz make it -more- prone to failure. Its a bargain basement Mercedes, whether it was $50 or $50,000, its still one of the cheapest Mercedes you can buy and as such, largely, a joke.

Funny, the crossfire is a fairly expensive car, but when I sat in it, the interior was all plasticky and the "aluminium" trim was painted plastic also. Thats just sad. Find a used TT DSG6 supercharged.

Well, i test drove the crossfire, and it was really a let down,

its so small inside, mygod, and u sit so low into the Car, My TC sits really low inside, and the doors come up close to my neck, so im really inclosed. in the crossfire, i felt like i almost could not see out! haha?

its deff quick, But its got alot of body roll in fast corner's. i also noticed that my TC handled better, with my springs and new yoko's. So i was really let down. its deff not the summer car, i want. i took a Drive over to Nissan and Sat in a Brand new 350z, it was White, and has 18's, THAT was nice, looking, and it Stuck to the road...

So its looking like a 350 or a 330i. im waiting till next week to test the BMW.

I agree with what jeremy clarkson said of the crossfire:

It looks like a dog squatting to take a ****. Season 3 Episode 9 on Top Gear in case you want to download it off a torrent site and watch it. (I knew cataloging the episodes would come in handy some time)
On top of that he didnt like anything about the car. And since he reviews all kinds of cars for a living I would trust his judgement.
According to clarkson:
Gearbox really is bad and 0-60 in 7.2 seconds isnt that fast. For a FR car it handles pretty poorly.
"Its hard to find anything in the crossfire that really works."
"There's a sense of cheapness in here" about the interior.
"The ride is terrible"
"This has to be the worst example of American-German cooperation since a chap called Adolphus Bush arrived in the states, tasted the water, and thought 'mmm. I can make beer out of this.' And we ended up with that headache in a can called Budweiser."

Sure I don't like the car but I wanted to bring you proof to help you decide. I did not state all that to rip on the car, I just wanted to let you know how poorly it was reviewed on Top Gear. hope I helped and didn't just sound like an idiot lol.

As for the Quality the car itself was fine it was all the electronics.

Lets see
base 34900.
freight 1250.
Pdi 250.
Evolution package 1315.
paint 890.
leather 2115.
stereo 1490.
heated seats 750.
memory package 1360.
Xenon lights 1485.
panarama roof 2005.
rainsense wipers 225.

Total so far and there is still more options
$48035.00 + Tax

$55240.25

Then you can get into the Designo options

Your MSN don't even have all the options on that car for that year.

The crossfire is expensive for what you get quality-wise and as far as technology goes. It's basically a poorer version of the previous-gen SLK.

It's not miata agile, not audi TT styled, not porsche boxster refinement... it's just ugly and heavy by comparison.

I wouldn't replace either car in my driveway with a crossfire...

I think it was Jeremy Clarkson who said it looked like a dog squatting to poo.
