Rep Power: 0 1.7 El engine Vs. EX(Si) Engine
Just wondering if the 2k1El engine has the same engine as the 2k1 Si, bc they're both SOHC Vtec.
and one more quick question, why did the regular civic gain 8 hp w/ the new 1.7 engine, but the new Si engine still only has 127hp, even w/ the new 1.7 engine

Rep Power: 0 It all has to deal with differnt compression, valves, and tuning of the ECU. They all are the same block but with slightly adjusted heads. Spoort Compoact did a write up way back about a Yamaha engine that is in the show. Just by replacing the valves and cams they were able to make that puppy scream to 10,000 RPM's with no problems. Wish we had DOHC though.
