i see 150,000+ mile eclipses all the time. there is nothing wrong with them.

and most other mitsus follow the same pattern. they last a long time but people are too lazy to take proper care.

Mitsu's previous managment was hiding safety defects
http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/a...p?t-12870.html
Cliff notes: Mitsu is demands the pension (about 13 million total) from the top teir managment because they have hidden saftey problems with their cars. Parts that should have been recalled where not, they blamed them on lakc of customer care, and this was for the entire line up, not just the eclipse.

Chrysler sells mitsu stocks (they used to own 1/3 of mitsu):
http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=234699
Cliff notes: mitsu is in the po house

I would say their cars maybe okay now, but in the past they where not, that is pretty evident by those law suites. I have know about 10 people who have older mistu cars (only one was a turbo eclipse), but all of them had problems, mostly electrical problems.

Also, Mitsu has had declining number of sales for the past 4 years. So overall, they are poor now, they have a poor selling line up, and have a bad image (that's probably the hardest thing to over come, just ask any American company), and who knows if they can even afford to redesign their cars right now. I don't see a bright future for them, but that's just me.

I have never been in an eclipse, that was taken care of as per mitsubishi request, that has had any problems. The cars really are good cars.

Everyone is just so quick to criticize mitsubishi for some reason, I don't get it. I love their cars, and would buy one myself. I don't get why so many people hate them. And I am not saying the scandal is not a valid point, it is ver valid, but people seem to point fingers at mitsu every chance they get. why?

Lets see, my friends have had a ton of mitsu cars. From all my CLOSE friends they have owned:
2x 1st gen eclipses
5x 2nd gens (2 talons, but same car obviously)
1x 3rd gen
1x 80something galant

The 1st and 2nd gens are still running perfectly. A few were turbo and 1 awd too. The 3rd gen ended up in another car (pulled out in front of him) but the 3rd gen was so girly that we are all glad its gone. The mid 80s galant had 1 problem: CPS sensor. Was replaced and runs as new with 180,000 miles. Literally all other parts are original minus clutch i believe.

Well, I'm not saying that Mistu can't make a good car, I'm just saying they have had problems. This is my personal take on them, but the older eclipses where actually not to bad if you stay away from the turbo. But their early to mid 90's cars seem to be plagued with electrical problems. I personally have always liked the 1 and 2 gen eclipses, but I’m bias because my uncles brother was the senior designer for them. Personally, I don't know anyone off hand that has a 80's anything Mitsu, so I don't know much about them back then.

And yes, the 3rd and current eclipse are so girly. What happen to AWD turbo? At least Mitsu finally brought the EVO over, but they had to be shown by Subaru first.

well if ralliart has its way we will at least have a turbo 4cyl 4th gen and maybe awd if things go right! I would love one of those like crazy. And they even make it look more like a 2nd gen. You saw that concept right?

Yeah, I saw that, that would be sweet. But considering their current fincial situation, I'm doubtful. Plus it would pull people away from the EVO, which would drop EVO sales, which are already low. I mean EVO sales are low, but they expected them to be, I think EVO sales are where Mitsu expected them to be. The common person does not want they kind of car and the young kid that wants it generally can't afford it, so there are only a few that can get an EVO. And while an AWD turbo 4 cylinder Eclipse would be sweet, they would have 2 cars in a very limited market competing agianst each other.

yes but the hype created from having those 2 cars, combined with those 2 cars dominating alot of street racing, would attract more people to the lancer and eclipse BASE model cars becuase of the image they would become. The Evo already has helped sales of lancers, at least I can see a difference. Like before the EVO i saw 1 lancer in my whole city. Now there are about 10 modified, along with a ton untouched.
And the new eclipse is a great looking car. Having a somewhat purpose built eclipse would make the new eclipse more appealing to alot of people who couldnt afford the ralliart car.

Yeah, you have a good point, I'm sure it would bring more to buy the car.

yeah. cause think of how well the base 2nd and 1st gens sold cause of the speed of the turbo and turbo awd models. people wanted the car but everyone did not need that kind of speed. so it worked well.

from what I've seen Dikreet is right, save for the younger gen getting the base model of the lancer, nearly every Lancer I see is being driven by a geriatric.....

You ever notice though, how whenever you see a female in a civic, shes never ugly. (Im talking less than 30 yrs old generally). They are almost always hot as hell. Amen Honda. Good job.

Ive always been an american truck guy, still am. I always have hated the ricer / APC crowd, but have respect for people who do their cars right. I have 3 pickups, one for plowing, one for hauling and one show truck. I bought a 99 civic for one reason, save on gas as my girlfriend lives 110 miles away. I got an incredible offer for that car (extemely hot chick..), took that, went out and paid cash for a new 05 becuase I know it will be reliable for at least the next 10 years.

well personally i dont like mitsu that much and as a mechanic who has done body work also i think mitsubishis (older ones, obviously i couldnt speak for how new ones will hold up donw the line) are alot worse than nissan/honda.
and i know alot of people with the DSM's your all speaking of. the earlier ones and most particularly the turb and awd turbo ones. none of them are great cars, they all have their problems and all these kids take care of theire cars and know it like the back of theire hand. a few years of them had serious engine problems (crank walk-0ut) and alot of other crap just shitting the bad left and right. and this is some that run 12.5 and some that are stock.

but i really dont feel like talking or arguing about mitsubishi, so on to next topic...... hot girls in civics......i dont see toooo many hot ones but im disappointed when a girl likes civics because they think theyre fast and cool, a girl should only like a car because its cute hahaha JK.
