F-250 or a duramax...for example have torques @ 160 ft/lbs....2x's our lugnut torques...just so ya know

OH and it's funy because it means they put their lugnuts on with more 'force' then our car has powerwise....

what i said was most likely our lug nuts take more torque than our engine puts out also. just so ya know
and no its not funny, its irrelevant and anyone who knows about cars would realize this and think its a stupid joke ( i mean someone who actually knows about cars, not that reads stuff online and thinks theyre einstein)

Honda lug nuts are suppose to be torqued to 70 ft-lb. Funny thing is that you don't know that and claim to know something about cars.

not really yours, but alot of these truck drivers (who buy them and never use them as a truck) definatly have some serious security issues. Their wife wanted a minivan but they are too manly so they get the biggest dumbest thing they can find.peeople who actually use pickups to haul stuff, there is no shame in that!

THIS IS ONLY IF YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT ME in the last part I know I'm not einstein, BTW...I have more good hair days than bad...
>>>***sigh*** maybe I'm just more laidback than you I can dish the jokes as well as take them...but ah well never mind it's obvious you want everyone to think the same way you do when it comes to this...but I'm still going to laugh cuz it's funny...not irrelevant..if it was meant to be irrelevant and unfunny the sticker should say "I get worse gas mileage but can still tow your car faster then you can drive it" Last edited by Shroomster; Nov 5, 2005 at 02:23 PM.

I don't know why people get bent out of shape about it. I mean no matter what car you have, there will always be haters, deal with it and luagh. It's not like I hate Honda's, I've only had 6 of them now.

yeah i hate rice as much as anyone else so i have no problem with people making fun of civics. My car is the exception, not the rule. rice is way too wide spread, and must be taken seriously

...(that would kind of suck if they really did).Kay well the only reason I can possibly think of for why people have Honda-hater stickers is cuz they're sick of seeing all those crappy old Civic hatchbacks that are rusting to pieces while topping out at 50 mph on the highway, (and I don't really blame them)...
But the point they are missing is these are probably the first Hondas ever built and they're *STILL* running, and meanwhile Mr.Evo-Sticker-Guy is driving around in his 15th car he's owned, and by now you're probably drinking beer out of some of his previous 14 cars.

they should have stickers that say ironic **** like
" your daughter might ride in that truck
but ill ride your daughter in this car"
chicks love civics. don't know why, don't care either.

do you know what the rule of thumb is for minimal valve margin height? did you know that pistons are actually oval shaped because they expand as they heat up and some parts are thinner so they heat up more and expand more? do you know what steering axis inclination is?
as for me knowing about cars, i guess you could say i dont know anything. but then youd be wrong, im in one of the best schools in new england for automotive tech and all my grades are 90's or above on all my tests and labs. now im still learning, but im done with 3 out of 4 semesters and im 100% i know more about cars than you, maybe you know more little facts or details of our cars because you researched it but to me thats not important because things like torque specs, trying to remember them is a waste of time, you just look it up while your working on the car. (and im trying to say all this without coming off cocky as possible but i know everyone will read it like that)
shroomster, i guess i was bitter about the joke, to me i just get annoyed when people bring up dum things like the (so my moutain dew bottle has more litres than your engine?) joke. its retarded, i understand the joke, wow my engines little ok, well it still gets 67.7 hp per litre and a stang 4.6 is about 50hp per litre......... anyways, to each his own for jokes
btw yours was pretty funny, never heard that one before.

To top that off, I worked my whole way through college and paid for it myself.
I know the torque specs on my car because I looked them up when changing the brakes, rotors, axels, struts and so on. I use the torque on the lug nuts about every other month, if you use it all the time, you remember it. Not knowing it just tells me you really don't do much with your car, or you are simply to lazy to look it for your own car. That tells me you have no idea about how the threads on the studs expand to help hold the nuts in place and to much torque can ruin the elasticity of the threading on both the nuts and threads, but that just something the engineers worry about.
As for pistons expanding, you have NO IDEA about that. I can explain it on a molecular level you never knew existed, I can use dynamic simulations using the Density Functional Theory and SPEAD to calculate how much the piston expands with nanometer precision. Does that matter, of course not, but it shows that you have no idea who you are talking to. My father-in-law even know that pistons expand, and he never graduated from high school. Yeah I know all that crap, it not like you know secerts or anything there. So how much do I really need to know? read my dissertation. Why instantly assume I'm a moron just because I can find a simple truth in a bumper sticker?

Guess you failed the class on "nice". Too bad. It seems all smart people are stuck up (yeah I am very stuck up too lol) and all dump people think they are smart. What a shame.
And although many of us engineers know properties of metals and such I doubt most engineers think of the threads on a molecular level, or a piston on a nano scale, when putting a lug nut on or thinking about engines.
Don't overanalyze to try to prove someone else wrong. No, you don't need to memorize your lug nut torque to know alot about your car. So dont try giving him a mental beating when he is right on that one. And you can know everything about the materials in a car and have NO idea what is going on. You are very misleading and I am happily going to make everyone realize it.
On the other hand, congrats on getting through college on your own. Thats a respectable feat by any standards. And engineering is always hard to I got alot of respect there. But damn, pride is a good thing, arrogance is not.

hahaha... I changed that.... anyway, I don't claim to know everything about cars, never did. And you are absoultly correct that knowing that stuff has nothing to do with cars, infact I mentioned that it doesn't matter. My point is that he has no idea what I know and don't know and it is wrong of him to judge me based on the fact that I find a bumper sticker that is true slightly funny.
It's not like I memorized the lug torque, but I do believe in doing what Honda recomends for torque specs. But EVERY HONDA I've had (have not had an S2000 or Honda truck yet) has had the same torque specs. I do all my own work on my cars and in the last 2 months I've changed the drivers side axel, front passenger strut and my brakes all around. That's 24 lug nuts I've put on in the last 2 months on my integra, if you use the same number 24 times in 2 months most people will remember it. Maybe I have a better memory than most
I'm not trying to be misleading, I'm just tring to point out he has should not jump to conclusions, that is all.

I hope they did not buy a fully built Mustang (what year BTW) for 3,000. IF they did they can bet on it not lasting long--something will give sooner or later--most likely sooner. I know this because I have built three Mustangs in my time. But yea like my sig says..."I dont care what you drive as long as you can drive".

The sticker I seen the other day was "MY LUGNUTS HAVE MORE TORQUE THAN YOUR IMPORTS" I thought it was pretty funny. The thing I hate is people that cut down other peoples cars. Why can't people just respect ALL cars in General.I'm fortunate enough to own pretty much any car I desire except for Exotics and I don't knock anyones car.I just bought my 05 Civic Si (canadian) and I'm absolutly impressed with it.Is it fast?not at all but the build quality and the convenience of it makes it one of my favourites to drive.I buy a new car every year, I'm kinda like MotorTrend but I have to pay for them.If I like it I'll keep it for a little bit longer then trade it and move on.These are mine to date.
So if someones talking sh.it tell them to suck a nut..

why not? Unless you are in engineering or are a leader in a medium - large business then the terrorists will pay better.
Plus our government has made alot of descisions that forced core jobs (middle american jobs) out of the country and brought more low level (burger flipping) jobs. I obviously do not support the USA very much. Maybe Ill get lucky and get out.
And no don't work for terrorists: They are irrational and dumb. Work for evil corporations who take in billions of dollars every year, like Microsoft or Shell.
