It has very little to do with how thick/thin the sheet metal is... and every thing to do with how inconsiderit the people you park next to are.

I've had my 01 since new and I think the metals pretty good, no surprize dings on mine. My old 95 hatch used to do that alot though, the sides always had new ripples.

maybe the civic is a japanese tin can? j/k but seriously tho, its probably the people and the elements you hit when youre driving. although i do think the paint is a lil thin. then again its a japanese car, i never expected german build quailty.

I find lil dings on mine too! I wish I had a device that could scoot all the cars around mine over with if they park a little too closely.

This is the only thing that I hate about our cars. Why couldnt we take a page from Saturn and get dent resistant?? I know its Saturn but damn! That's the only place where they got us beat.

My GF has a Saturn and her Dad drop kicked the hell out of it when they were at the dealership to see if it was really dent proof. (It was an all out drop kick like wrestling Hulk Hogan style) And it dented in and flexed right back out. I was like

Re: I hate my HONDA's thin sheet metal

Overall I'm struggling with my new 2012 civic, the metal is extremely thin, thinner than my 2008 car. I opened the hood the other day, gently touched the fender and the
entire fender flexed. My thin. cheaply made driver's side floor mat is showing signs of
wear after only 3000 miles! I hope I feel better about this car, but right now not happy!
