random thought about AWD
I've heard that the CRV and Civic share a lot of components... just a thought, but has anyone ever thought of swapping the FWD for the AWD system? Obviously it would be ridiculously expensive, but is this even possible?

there already is a civic sold in japan that has the same AWD that the CRV does.
by the way, the AWD those cars have should not be confused with the "real" AWD in cars like the WRX. and 4WD is something completely different. heh.

I know someone around my city that has a Jetta with a Quattro AWD system. Fit like a glove or so I heard.
Costs money, but it can be done. Wasnt there a Civic on Ebay that was RWD?

The power loss wouldn't be worth it. Might as well swap in a V6 while you're at it. Not to mention ground clearance would be a huge issue... you probably wouldn't be able to lower your Civic if you added awd.

Here are a few points that weren't mentioned:
*the back of the Civic Ferio's that have AWD have a hump in the rear seat floorplan.
*the AWD vehicles that share the Civic platform have a stronger engine
It would probably be easier to get the Civic's body on top of a CR-V platform with a running engine and AWD. That would take a lot of fabrication too though.
