that is prostock cars. lingenfelter has a 1000+hp ecotec in a s10. i think it runs 8's ill look up some info for you on both, what most street guys are running and also some info on the late lingenfelters vehicles. he work hand in hand with gm to produce some pretty nutty motors and parts. ill dig some up so you can see. its really a great platform to work from.

you know i have read thousands of articles posted and i cant seem to find a single one.. but gm has just put out a tuner guide for the ecotec. this is a link to the book. in stock form you can produce 400hp from what gm states. this book gives you a complete list of parts and how to get 1000hp out of a eco tec. is that good enough. before lingenfelter died they were working on a 1200-1400hp ecotech and had sucessfully run a 7 sec. pass in a s10 equiped with a ecotec motor and 6 sec passed in rwd conversion compacts(sunfire, cavalier)

article posted above show prostreet ecotecs running 7's and 6's with 1000+hp. the link below is just a pdf of gm's tuner guide to achieve that hp with an ecotec

when you say a cobalt SS can make 1000hp, i'm talking about a street driven car. not a professional tube frame dragster. that's not even a cobalt at that point.
there are street driven vettes, supras, etc, that make 1000hp.
yeah but they are dyno and trailer queens even they are hardly ever street driven. you said it wasnt do able. well it is. even though they are straight motor you show me one honda street car making 1000+hp and street driven. the whole purpose of build a motor with that much power is to get it down the track. in stock form you can make 400hp in an ecotec. that is as good as a 4g63. to have a stock rotating assembly be able to hold 400hp is pretty gnarly. that itself shows that the motor is capable of much more. read the article i posted and take a look at the gm tuner guide link i posted.
if you read my post i never stated that it was in a stock cobalt or sunfire. i stated that gm makes parts that can put them into the 1000+ hp range. which is exactly what i proved here. no argument there!
you may think it rediculous but really the cars you posted are trailer queens or dyno queens. so it not really fair to compare the 2 either. and i am talking 4cyl 1000+hp monsters. not 6cyl 2jz-gte's or ls1-6's v8's. big difference there. those cars produce much more hp and are much more performance oriented to begin with

A. this discussion was about the cobalt AND its engine.
B. the cars YOU are talking about are not even cobalts/sunfires at the point they are making 1000hp, and their engines hardly qualify as the 2.0liter ecotec anymore.
C. you can take ANY CAR and make 1000hp if you are willing to put it into a tube frame, dump thousands of dollars into it, and do whatever it takes.

I've been here for a long time, had even a few different names, and I have noticed S2000man01 always backs up what he says with facts and sites, he's a very good researcher. You on the other hand show a link to a drag car and say that engine can be put into a street driven car (note a small differance between tube frame cars and unibody cars).

amazing it really is. its hard to fathom how a simple statement can turn into t ahuge argument over me proving facts. which i did and it still isnt good enough. well i should have known that from the other threads i read of him doing the same thing. way over it. ill just sit back and laugh now. no need to carry this on anymore.
