Test drove a 05 Saturn Redline Yesterday.
Well I was just passing through the car lots Sat and I stumbled upon one of those new Ion Redlines. Ended up taking it for a spin. It picked up pretty good from 0-80mph(3rd gear). It didn't feel as fast as I my car with the 50shot, but def faster than my car all motor. Not too crazy about the looks, but not completly disgusted. Overall I was pretty impressed. Anyway they have that employee discount going on plus .9% financing. Which is a pretty bad *** deal. I'm gonna go back and take it for another spin and possibly trade in the vic if the price is right. A simple pulley swap can yeild some decent gains, and I'll have the power of my 50 shot all the time(no refills) plus still have warranty. Unlike my civic if I break something it's coming out of my pocket. Gonna do some research this week before I decide. I know some of you are gonna say it's a saturn and it's still a POS, but my parents have owned saturns since they first came out and have never had any major problems plus I'm tired of *******s dinging the **** out of my doors. LOL

ive, only seen one pic of the ion redline, and eh, i was actualy a fan of the ion when it came out so its not TOO shabby, styling; the ss isnt that bad looking in person, the srt-4 surpasses that in looks, but you cant deny GM's discount if it beats those cars by a few thousands
,
show pics whatever you get

edit: oh and as far as the saturn stigma, in 1 1/2 years, if i cant get and sti, evo, 350,or g35.... I would consider the beefed up sky, if the power is right.

Car and Driver television had a special on the Cobalt, Saturn, WRX Impreza, and a couple others, the Saturn was last on the list, the cobalt i think was 3 out of 5. I would go with the Chevy, i was watching Street Fury tonight and this girl had her Cobalt decked out from the factory, she said she could run 45 psi on the Supercharger, not sure how but at about 21,000 it was pretty nice.

Pretty soon GM will be a part of Honda before long, Honda is helping GM out to keep the from going bankrupt, even though they are a competitor, Honda wants to help out and keep them around. I'm not saying i heard that GM will be a part of Honda i'm just saying that they might as well be now.

The newest issue of Car and Driver has a great comparo of the Redline, Cobalt SS, WRX, RSX-S and SRT-4...a great article if you're considering these cars. They did however, rank the Redline last, and the Cobalt 4th.

Hinda and GM have been close since the early 70's. VTEC, was created by GM, they could'nt get to work, so they sold it Honda for $10k. Honda didn't have the abilty to make a car from scratch, so to help them out, GM sold them some smaller platforms.
This whole engine thing is nothing new. It just happens that Honda can build those engines cheaper than GM can because Honda puts out a ton of the 3L V6's. It's not really a helping thing, it's a business thing, if person X can produce something you need cheaper than you can make, buy it from person X.
