Attn: JoeB16 Suspension Question on Si
I noticed a lot of ppl here say when they put coilovers on they blow there stock shock/strut on there 2k1.
I just bought ground control coilovers for my 99 Si and I was wondering if this can happen on my 6th gen. I'm only lowering it just a tad to get rid of the wheel gap. Should I just splurge for some tokico non adj springs or will I be ok on stock?

It depends.
It depends on how low your going to make your car that is, and what you plan to use it for. For anything up to a 1.8" drop id say that the stock struts/shocks are fine IF you are just using it for normal street driving (that is no auto-X or spirited drives down the twizties). ANything lower then 1.8 and/or if you plan on road racing your car Id reccomend aftermerket pieces.
I would reccomend the KYB AGX adjustable shock. They are properly valved to habdle 2+" of drop, offer tunability in its damping and rebound AND (get this) cost an average of 85-90 bucks each. Set em soft for every day driving then stiffen em up for the weekend auto-x (or you can also stiffen just the rears to help reduce weight transfer when drag racing, increasing traction for the front wheels). Id reccomend a Ground Control sleeve soilover and KYB AGX set up. Eibach makes the springs, the ride height is adjustable from stock to -3" and the coilovers are just 300-350 i believe. you can probably even pick up a dead on the shoc and Co for somethng like 500 bucks. cheaper if u find a group buy.

I'm getting the gc's for 300 from my local performance shop. They recommended the KYB's but I held off because of the money issues. My Si is only going to be used for normal daily driving (no auto-xing etc), but Ive heard to get rid of wheel gap im gonna have to go more than 2". I guess I'll see tho, they come in this week.

wheel gap also depends on what rim and tire size your running. If its a money concern dont worry about it. GO ahead and lower your car 2" or so. Itll blow your stock shox but itll take a while to do it (took me almost a year). Im sure you can have an xrea 300 saved up by then to get the KYBs

also, it helps if you remove the top 2 or 3 black plastic pins that are holding your wheel well liner to the fender. then go ahead and push the outside enge of the black plastic liner up and in past the metal lip of the fender. that will allow for more clearence if you plan on running lower then 2".
